Cy Woods puzzle could be complete #RoadToSanAntonio

There aren't a lot of club teams that can say they have five D1 players in the area, let along HS teams but Cy Woods has just that. Their spectacular guard, Tatyana Perez, has already committed to Tulsa while fellow senior Erica Ogwuike has her share of offers on the table. Then you throw in junior 6'9 Nancy Mulkey, fresh off a USA Gold Medal Team run as well as newcomer '15 Jasmine Williams and frosh Kate Reece, well that's a pretty solid group

Cy Woods made a deep run to R3 finals last season, losing to eventual state champion Manvel, but they are on a collision course with North Shore and that first test against the Mustangs could come week after next at the Lady Gander Tournament. One thing is for certain, I'll be there

Seven Lakes preseason fave in D-19 #KatyISDTournament

I'm guessing the top teas in the district are Seven Lakes, Tomkins, Katy Taylor and Cinco Ranch but the funny thing is you simply never know, especially with transfers, move-ins and incoming freshmen however one thing I do know is Michelle Fokam and Cydney Varner combined for almost half of the Spartans points last season and the 2016 duo is back after helping lead Seven Lakes to a District 19 co-championship title with Katy Taylor

Here's the great news, the Spartans appear on a collision course with Atascocita in the semifinal round of the KISD Tournament, but again, you just never know but here's the bracket and I'll see for myself real soon

'20 Micah Cooper has been a HOOPER #2014HoopAHolicsCamp

I remember my first look at Micah Cooper, it was watching her dribble to Candy Girl on a You Tube video however after catching her in person last season, let me just tie the song in, her game was definitely sweet  read more

The 2020 class is loaded, she's going to be in the mix and I'll check this explosive young guard out in a few weeks at the HoopAHolics event in Duncanville on December 13th

Cedar Ridge has eyes on #TXInvitational prize

When Cedar Ridge played North Shore at the Cy Fair Classic, folks that was the best preseason game I've seen in a long time, maybe the best and this game also had players going after it as if it was a game to advance in the playoffs, no exaggerations on my part. Big time players stepped in a big way and 2014 MDAA candidate LaShaan Higgs put on a show as she was simply dominant and although I always hashtag Tip Sheet Charli as #HookEm ready, well Higgs definitely is as well

Cedar Ridge is one of the favorites for the Texas Invitational which features several of the top teams from the area. I'll be there Thursday and Friday for the festivities

Coming up Friday- Out of the Woods #RoadToSanAntonio

Erica Ogwumike is already regarded as one of the states top players, well the country for that matter and she has a shot at doing something her older sisters, Nneka and Chiney, did in their senior seasons, make a trip to the state tournament. EO and her talented Cy Woods teammates are definitely on the short list of 6A teams in our region that can go but the key is to remain healthy, that's tomorrow

2020 Jaedyn Dunn set for #2014HoopAHolicsCamp

I haven't seen Jaedyn Dunn but I've heard quite a few good things about her ability and potential so she's definitely a player I'm looking forward to seeing at the HoopAHolics Camp  December 13th in Duncanville

'19 Habeck pleasant surprise joins #2014HoopAHolicsCamp

I wanted to catch as many glimpses of '19 Reagan Montgomery with Cen Tex Elite, Montgomery is a GPR Under The Radar player so I'm always watching their progression. After seeing the team a few times, I kept noticing this big kid doing an abundance of things and that's 5'10 Brooke Habeck who probably has a growth spurt left to push her to the magic number or above but she's already shown she can do some magic on the floor

Habeck will be in Duncanville December 13th for the HoopAHolics Camp as the list continues to grow. Last season over 150 players attended two sessions, be there and be ready

Explosive Roach ready to lead Katy Taylor and commits #KatyISDTournament

Pound for pound and inch for inch, #sizedontmatter cause this kid won't flench. Hey that just popped into my head when I was thinking about watching Samantha Roach since she was a 5th grader and that desire was always there as she was going against players two or more years older so watching her perform at Katy Taylor during her career didn't surprise me one bit as she has accomplished quite a bit. I just found out she has committed to Southern, I knew she could play at the next level and she'll be one of the top players on hand for the Katy ISD Tournament

EVENTS

Kingwood's Under The Radar trio want to go out with bang #LadyGanderTipOff

What can I say say about Gabby Stanton (Rice) Charlotte Hodges (HBU) and Brooke Jolivette (North Texas) that I haven't already said? Probably not much and one thing is for certain, if I say you're an Under The Radar player, that's one thing because there are talented kids everywhere however nothing pleases me more than after I say it, the kids perform under the bright lights and this trio certainly did over the past two and a half seasons

Kingwood is a preseason favorite, they're going to make a run at a district title if healthy and who knows after that, well I will sort of know after seeing them week after next

EVENTS

New look Klein Forest for #SBISDTournament

Klein Forest graduating class of 2014 may not have made it to state like I thought they would during their four years however they did help the Eagles soar to where they had never been, the playoffs each season, a first for post season play, as well as a combined win total over their four seasons which is more than the school had in their history

Tiara Marbley and Destiny Vincent are a couple of players remaining from the glory years and they definitely know what it takes to keep it going. the 6'2 Marbley has improved every year since I started watching her in middle school while Vincent is one pf the areas most explosive guards and their supporting cast ain't bad but I'll give you a little feedback after the SBISD Tournament in a couple of weeks

EVENTS

Twin Towers have Taz one of faves at #KISDTournament

Hannah Hopkins and Anacia Wilkinson have done a lot of growing over the years, both on and off the court and watching these two young stars develop from my initial sighting of them in middle school has been a joy to say the least

I have Atascocita listed in my preseason Top 5 and if the team stays healthy, especially these two, they could conceivably make a deep run. The 2016 Hopkins already has committed to Rice while the 29015 Wilkinson decided on Tennessee Tech a few days ago and I'll catch the duo along with their talented teammates in the Katy ISD Tournament December 4-6

Higher Goals 2020 duo set for #2014HoopAHolicsCamp

Claire Reynolds, pictured above and Makenzie Schilmoeler are a couple of HGEE players I've had a glimpse of however they will give me a chance to get a good luck at them both on December 13th at the HoopAHolics Camp in Duncanville

If memory serves me correct, most of time it does, these two young ladies already are doing some amazing things so I'm definitely excited

'20 Holmes ready for more highlights #2014HoopAHolicsCamp

Just watching Aja Holmes physicality and maturity at last seasons HoopAHolics, yours truly assumed she was an 8th grader I hadn't seen with a bright future ahead. I love my trips across the country watching the rising stars showcase their skills and altthough I've yet to see Bria McClure in game situation, the shooting exhibition she put on at The Blueprint , well let me show you

I had to get a pic of this young lady, release was not only quick but accurate and to be honest with you, I saw enough to know I'd need a file photo down the road. McClure is on board for HoopAHolics in December, are you?

Mustangs ready for early tests #RoadToSanAntonio

Okay let me just keep everything in perspective, I have North Shore, Cy Woods and Barbers Hill as the top three teams in the area and you can adjust probably 20 teams to fill out the next seven spot to get a legitimate Top 10, sort of like rankings, those who have separated themselves fro everyone else and a bunch who are pretty doggone good at getting the job done

North Shore hosts Hightower , who I feel has a shot at making a run, on November 11th and should be going against Barbers Hill that Friday in the Lady Gander Tournament's Ranger Division where the winner will probably meet Cy Woods in the final on Saturday. Yes, I will DEFINITELY be at those games, no doubt whatsoever

Last seasons #HoopAHolics was more than #AutoAwesome

Google + made this happen to show you on the blog but the players made it happen on the court

Around 150 players attended last seasons inaugural event and I had a chance to catch a glimpse of the future, let me say this, it's bright

Some of the top players for their various classes were in attendance, some are MDAA locks but the abundance of next level talent simply blew me away

Don't wait, don't hesitate, don't procrastinate, this event will fill up and it's only a little over six weeks away

Hoyas "Miss Excitement"Jackson ready for #2014HoopAHolicsCamp

Nothing excites me more than being excited and nothing entertains me more than being entertained and although that statement makes absolutely no sense, Ta' Niya Jackson shows that it actually does. As I hashtag #sizedontmatter and #talentiseverywhere think of her as she became even more electrifying this past summer with the South Texas Hoyas but the 2019 star is a long way from being done and I just got word that she will be in Duncanville on December 13 for the HoopAHolicsCamp

If you think you can play, you need be here, I'm serious and anyone that knows me is that I'm going to always keep it real

Teams beginning to SWARM to #BattleOfTheHive

Oklahoma Swarm 2020 was another team that simply blew me away at Prime Time Nationals, after all 6'2 Katelyn Levings is a "can't miss" and one the short list for MDAA. I didn't see her sister Kendra's 2018 Swarm group but she couldn't miss shooting around 50% from bta and at 5'10 dropping around double digit three pointers numerous times, well she has options as well as I type

Two Swarm teams, 2020 and 2019, three Swish teams 2019, 20 and 21 as well as PWP 2019 and 2020 are three of the top programs in Oklahoma and all will be at the Battle of the Hive. Arkansas Mavericks 2020 as well as Colorado's EJ Hoops 2019 and 20 have all committed for this exciting event being held March 6-8 in Oklahoma City

Clear Lake's Thompson playing in final #LadyGanderTipOff

Clear Lake's Torrie Thompson is one of the top uncommitted guards in the state and I'm not just saying that because she's an Under The Radar player, I'm saying it because the 2015 combo can play. Clear Lake happens to be one of my Top 20 preseason picks and they'll be joined by R-3 6A favorites Cy Woods and North Shore as well as 5A favorite Barbers Hill along with Top 20 Kingwood and a team ready to surprise everyone, George Ranch. These match-ups look so good that I'll be double dabbing between here and the SBISD Tournament. Always remember to check EVENTS tab on girlzprepreport.com

Sarah Gwin has made strides every season I've watched her however over the past few months, her performances with the South Texas Hoyas should be considered huge strides. McElroy one of many Eagles flying at #SBISDTournament November 13-15

Cy Falls has the resume to brag about being in the toughest district in the city and although I have them behind Cy Woods, Cy Fair and Cy Ranch, they could have those three sighing and pull a biggie off especially with the firepower of seniors Cierra Mackey and Quay Cleveland along with juniors Kierra McElroy and Jae Branch plus whatever hot freshmen they have

McElroy actually has more four point plays than any other player I've seen since the turn of the century while the ultra smooth Mackey and explosive Cleveland love bringing it and when you add Branch, who is a highlight waiting to happen, don't give Westside the SBISD title yet SIM, yeah I know, I'm like Rickey Henderson

Westside's run starts with #SBISDTournament

The Wolves will be trying to dethrone Bellaire as district champs this season, they haven't won it outright since 2007 which is the year my daughter graduated from their however Westside did earn a share last season. The 2015  D1  twin towers of Alexis Adams and Maddisen Turner are one of the best front courts in the state and they are ready to send a message and with the emergence of Janae Smith, another talented senior, the black and blue will be ready for you at the Spring Branch ISD Tournament which helps crank up opening week

'19 Montgomery locked in for #2014HoopAholicsCamp

I always hear things about this player or that player so it's always good for me to catch them action for myself. Reagan Montgomery was just about everywhere I was, or maybe I have that backwards, over the club season and I saw her under multiple settings to know that she definitely has some tools that will take her to the next level. The Girlz Prep Report Under The Radar star will be on hand at the Boob Knight Fieldhouse December 13th

Green era starts for Pantherettes #TXInvitational

Season after season, year after year I see talented players that can play at a variety of levels in college and I love watching the younger ones play, especially the ones that are ahead of the game and believe Zarielle Green has been ahead of the game from day one and is still among the top 2018 players in the country

I don't know what I like more about this kid, her smoothness on the floor, her cat like instincts or the fact that she ain't settling on just being where she is, something has been added to her game every season and as she enters one of the states most decorated programs at Duncanville, I'll get a chance to see her and her talented teammates at the Texas Invitational where they open up against Cy Falls and Pearland on November 20th and battle heavyweight Cedar Ridge in Friday the 21st

There was a Routt at 2013 #HoopAholicsCamp

I get so much pleasure than watching players go at it on the court and what gives me even more is watching them progress over the years. 2018 Shae Routt has done just that over the past three years as she heads to Kempner High School to play for her mom,, Coach Erica Routt, but that's only part of Shae's story as she, like Charli Collier, has already committed to Texas, which happens to be the same school her mom played for

She's around 6'2 and has also expanded her game from just being a back to the basket player and last season she played just about every position at the Hoop A Holics Camp and played them all quite well. I'll be catching up Shae shortly and whole lot over her career but new stars are ready to step up and be seen at this seasons camp which is in Duncanville, TX on December 13th so assure yourself a spot, it's going to be hot

Clear Creek ready to move up #TXInvitational

The youngstas are ready at Clear Creek and trust me I've watched the progression over the summer and when you have a talented group of sophomores led by  Hannah Froeschl and Lacey Savage, well that's a foundation any team could use but expect them to make some noise and an area F4 run is not out of the question

Tip Sheet Charli was at 2013 #HoopAholicsCamp

'18 Charli Collier is one of the most dominant bigs in the state right now and she's yet to play her first official HS game. The first time I saw Collier was when she was in the 5th grade, I knew she would be a D1 post because of her size and desire however over the years, she's elevated her game and shown she can play multiple positions and at last seasons HoopAHolics Camp is the place where I saw the 6'4 BEAST do a crossover in the open court that has my head spinning just thinking about it. The Barbers Hill freshman has already committed to Texas and I'm sure she would do some damage there right now as I type

Under The Radar Hughes is a speedster ready for the run

I remember a couple of years ago when someone asked me if I knew who Deja Hughes was and my response was I hadn't seen her but she could play. I was then asked how did I know she could play and my simple response was I saw blur and felt the breeze but they didn't catch it. Hughes is one of the fastest guards in the area, with the ball and also one of the top defensive guards in the 2015 class. She simply makes things happen, on both ends and even though she was out for the Greater Houston Invitational, she'll play a huge role in their run

I just love it when these kids make me look like a genius, where is that 5th grade video of Chasity Patterson when I called her "The Future?" It's on here somewhere but I'm pressed for time folks and as the click ticks until opening season when North Shore faces a major test off the top in Hightower, I'll be there hopefully in VIP section but anyway Patterson and company are on a MISSION and it ain't IMPOSSIBLE

The worst thing is to be uninformed and misinformed

I'm simply amazed at some of the things I hear when I talk to parents and whats even more amazing is some of the stuff they tell me, especially when it comes down to services helping their daughter. Folks if someone tells you they can help your daughter get to the next level, sight unseen, unless she's way above the magic number of six feet, red flags should go off

I don't care if your daughter is receiving letters left and right from colleges, I've stated several times that I've received letters over the years telling me how well I played and even though I didn't play, nor am I female, it sort of lets me set the stage. I've had parents tell me, "well my daughter is only a junior" sometimes leaves me speechless because I've laid out the percentages and unless your child is a "can't miss" you should be concerned

Girlz Prep Report gives honest evaluations, the number of kids I've assisted is mind boggling and some of those had nothing on the table so before you're fooled into believing something that isn't true and once again, although tons of people are giving advice, I've been through this and not just with my daughter, who was a can't miss, but with numerous Under The Radar players who could play somewhere

Barbers Hill climbs to #3 in area but they might be even higher

A very impressive showing against one of the states top 6A teams tells me that Barbers Hill would make the playoffs in every area 6A district in the area and win most of them, it's just that simple, it is what it is and they are going to do plenty of damage providing they stay healthy and here are a few of  the reasons why

Manvel still could play spoiler #GreaterHoustonInvitational

Losing a couple of BCS players and some talented guards might destroy a lot of programs however Manvel still has MDAA lock Jordan Hosey, sharpshooter Amiya Jackson and  game changer, Arianna Sanders just to nae a few. Although Hosey wasn't on hand at the GHI, the team fought and battled and as the picture shows, were there to lending a helping hand so when they are at full strength, imagine the high flying Hosey along with the rest of the defending state champions being ready but right now, they're just playing it cool

Yates, Chavez, Concordia #GreaterHoustonInvitational

Tiara Marbley and Kristina Battle were a couple of guest players for Yates, Marbley at 6'2 has continued to improve over her career as well as Battle who is a few inches shorter but both definitely made their presence felt during the event. The actual Yates squad had several speedsters and that along with their athleticism created some issues when they pressed. Yates also had some kids that could shoot the long ball as well as attack and finsih

Chavez had a couple of guest players also, the Gregory sisters from Westside and they will play a huge part in whether or not the Wolves win district this season. I'm not familiar with the Chavez players, well except one and that's freshman Stacy Rios. Rios has done tons of growing up over the past two seasons and her ability to not only stretch the defense but distribute will help Chavez who has talented kids

Concordia Lutheran is sort of in a rebuilding stage, well sort of however they have some transfers and newbies that will again have them giving the larger public schools fits along the way. You can almost forget about offensive rebounds with Lindsay Treadway and Ally Welling, both over 6'2, controlling the inside and with the ever game changing Sydney Mackzo, be ready for the Crusaders

FB Marshall duo ready to go out in style #GreaterHoustonInvitational

Da' Mazhae Leeks and Tenisa Burns have had plenty of moments and memories over their high school career however this season, the team appears to have even more firepower from a variety of positions. Leeks and Burns are going to give the team over 20 combined every game, that's a given, but the energy from their supporting cast which includes size and other capable scorers will determine how far they go

Game starts at the what? Always has, just ask Jas

Talk about a blast from the past, I watched Jasmine Hartman grow up right before my eyes. I caught Hartman as a 7th grader at Pershing MS, Pershing has a storied history of players doing some damage not only in HS but beyond and Hartman. At Bellaire, Hartman helped Bellaire maintain the status of one of the "teams to beat" and after that, she starred at Oklahoma and reached the Final 4

Jasmine was at the Greater Houston Invitational with her younger sister who also plays but here's a link to the former Cardinal star from way back

Evans addition has Cardinals clicking #GreaterHoustonInvitational

Aeriel Holiday

Losing Irinisha Johnson was a big blow but even without her,, Bellaire showed they would be competitive this season with a talented group of players including Aeriel Holiday and Aaliyah Austin. Holiday is one of the hardest working players I've seen come through in a long time, she doesn't mind diving on the floor and she goes after everything in the pant but she has been stroking the ball from long range effortlessly and consistently

Aaliyah Austin

Austin has taken her game up every year I've watched her and she adds so much energy to this talented team who simply want to get after it. Peighton Porter and Mya Hollinshed will create some issues in the paint as well and although I said this would be the first season Westside wins the district outright since my daughter graduated, 2007, the addition of Dae Dae Evans has me thinking a little differently

Dae Dae Evans

Evans simply makes things happen, she's a bolt of lightning with the ball and she knows how to set her teammates up for easy baskets. Evans can also score and too bad I don't video because the acrobatic lay-ups and and ones she displayed as well as watching her zoom and zig zag through the crowd would be highlights I could watch again and again
