STARS OF TOMORROW

I'm checking out the remaining teams in the Sweet 16 and reminiscing over seeing many of these young ladies as early as 10 years old, one in particular since Day 1. This weekend I'll get a chance to see some future stars in the Houston Insiders 9th Annual Hoop Fest.

Several kids that played in the Region 3 Final 4 are scheduled to appear, including Sedalia Ellis-Cy Falls, Brooke Mc Carty,  Courtney Latham and Aaliyah Brown from Clear Brook, along with Crystal Polk and maybe Akunna Elonu from Region 3 Champ Elsik, Akunna's sister Adoara is playing in the Sweet 16 for Texas A&M.

Also scheduled to appear are Hightower's "Triple Towers" of the Gilbert twins and Jaz Prophett along with that "Dynamic Duo" from Bellaire, Raven Burns and AJ Alix from Bellaire. I plan on having several stories on many of the kids playing on GPR throughout the season, I am using this as an evaluation tournament, so please stay tuned for information you can use and remember before it's all said and done, much of what you've been told isn't true and you will need to understand how it really works....more

PLAYING AT THE NEXT LEVEL

Learn the ins and outs on how this really works. In the Houston area, there will always be 10-20 kids that will go to school and play at the next level, no matter what. After that, you will probably have over 100 kids bunched together fighting for 20-30 scholarships. I cover the Houston area extensively, you can see that by the weekly stories I have reported over the past two seasons, as well as the state. I've actually been in this over 10 years and as my youngest daughter leaves a successful college career on a team that that has been ranked in the Top 10 every year she's been there, I think I'm a pretty good judge in the happenings of what it takes to get there.

I've had a hand in helping numerous kids over the years, even those who didn't play for our club and I am taking it to another level  read more

NCAA WBB TOURNAMENT

The stage has been set, however the names might remain the same as there could be a 4TH thriller between A&M and Baylor to see who goes to the Final 4. In all, 7 teams from the Big 12 were selected, Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Iowa State and Kansas State round it out and this says a lot about the conference. Other Texas teams headed to the "Big Dance" are University of Houston and Prarie View.

TEXAS A&M SENIOR NIGHT

This group of young ladies will leave as the winningest senior class in the history of Texas A&M basketball. Where one journey ends, a new one begins, especially the connection between this father and his daughter. I was blessed to be able to not only coach her, but have her play at the next level within shouting distance and it's been a blast.

As a four year captain, she's met some wonderful people along the way. She's been a fan favorite from day one, not only because of how she is on the court, but also her personality off the court.

The Big 12 Tourney starts next week, followed by the NCAA and I'm hoping to be in Indy to watch some more of this

I've tried to keep a diary of this seasons Big 12 games, check it out

For the last time!

MORE ELSIK

I truly believe these kids wanted to prove something this season after that sensational Bellaire comeback in the playoffs last year. The countdown to Friday's big match-up against Georgetown continues and yes, I will be there, not only for that game but to see the Amazing Alexis Jones and I-Mac!

OZEN vs CANYON

Here are a couple of stories on the young ladies from Beaumont

ELSIK vs GEORGETOWN

Can the Rams beat Georgetown? Did you think they would beat Clear Springs, or better yet, North Shore? Crystal Porter was interviewed and she said rankings don't count and at this time of the season, they really don't. Since this is the season of surprises, let's not count the chickens before they hatch. I can't believe I said that, well wrote it :)
