Caldwell name staying hot as 2018 Desiree accepts torch

Desiree Caldwell will be among the names being mentioned from the Texas 2018 class by many college coaches and in turn, be on their short lists. Two or three years ago, I said the young lady was a national D1 caliber and if I said it, well.......

Caldwell will be among the top middle school players at the Hoop-A-Holics camp on Decmber 15th at the Bobby Knight Fieldhouse in Duncanville. This is an OPEN camp, early bird discount ends December 6th, click on link below to sign up

Kennedy Leonard commits

When I saw Kennedy Leonard as a freshman for Southlake Carroll, I knew she had "IT" and over the years, she's added a lot more of "IT" to her game. Her dream of playing at the next level has not only come true , but in a big way as has committed to Colorado.

Kennedy said  "After considering scholarship offers from over 20 BCS Universities including: Baylor, Oklahoma State, Stanford, Iowa State, Northwestern, Florida and Princeton I have decided to become a Buffalo and verbally commit to Coach Lappe and the  University of Colorado. I have tremendous respect for all of the coaches and universities that have recruited me and I am humbled by the attention and time that the coaches and their staffs have given to me. I would especially like to thank my club team, Nike Cy-Fair Elite/Texas Nike Elite and Coach Coleman as well as my Southlake Carroll high school coach, Teri Morrison for all of their help making my dream of playing college basketball come true"

Debate is open until return of Mulkey

Cy Woods is on a somewhat roller coaster ride this season however they've pulled off some very impressive wins even without 6'8 super soph Nancy Mulkey. With Olivia and Erica Ogwumike averaging double-doubles, a healthy Tyler Davis and the emergence of move-in Tatyana Perez, Woods did something I didn't see coming and that was win the FBISD Tournament over a solid Dekaney squad. They made it to the Gold seim's of the Texas Invitational however they had to face eventual champ Duncanville and it wasn't pretty

Once Mulkey returns, this team will be different and all that needs to happen is for her  to be able to come back healthy and things will fall in their place, and out of bounds because she's a shot block waiting to happen

Starting Thursday, we'll roll with one of the coolest sequel's ever "Let's Do It Again" as some some heavy hitters will be trying to knock down favorite Manvel at the Peggy Whitley Classic

Navarro carving her own Destiny at Clear Falls

Based on my experiences over the years, one thing I know is that college coaches look for certain things in players and big guards that can shoot have probably been on the short lists of just about all of them. Destiny Navarro is a big guard, 5'10, and even more importantly she's a sophomore or better yet, super sophomore and if you haven't heard about her, well you will and I mean a lot as she's on my 2016 Under The Radar list

She has range, can shoot the three almost blindfolded and she has range, I guess those missiles she launches from bta are under some radar as well. Navarro dropped 25 earlier this season and is averaging double digits while filling up the  stat sheet. She's one of the bright young stars out in the Clear Lake area, she does her damage for Clear Falls and I'll be watching her closely next week at the Peggy Whitley Classic

GPR pulling a Trifecta Friday 13th weekend

I just told y'all Cori Schnell came back with a vengeance scoring 25 points so here's how I'm rolling Friday the 13th weekend. I'll catch Cori  in the Prestonwood Tournament and we all know one thing, #talentiseverywhere

This also happens to be the weekend for the Hoop-A-Holics Camp December 15th for 6th-8th graders, if your baby can play, I'll be at Bobby Knight all day. so register now

It get's even better, I'm in a dilemma on my Friday 13th game. Is it Duncanville at Timberview, Timberview almost got em at home at last season or do I check out Flower Mound featuring Miss Triple Double Lauren Cox at Plano West and Lauren Chou, two of the top 2016 players in the world

GAMES

Who knows, I may just do a different Friday game altogether since I'll see those teams in both the Sandra Meadows and Mansfield Rotary Tournaments but one thing is for sure, that cloning machine doesn't work so I'll go the extra mile to find out who is who and where they should be

Sandra Meadows bracket is up!!!!

#AutoAwesome says it all as the Duncanville Pantherettes are ready to defend their Sandra Meadows title, yet again. Brackets  are now up and remember if I have it, it will be under EVENTS on the girlzprepreport.com

I'll be covering Sandra Meadows and Mansfield Rotary on the 26-28, follow me on Twitter andd or Facebook

Torrie Thompson shows upside for Clear Lake

I caught Clear Lake against Kingwood over in Lady Gander Tip Off a few weeks ago and I had a chance to see yet another Under The Radar player capable of playing at the next level. Torrie Thompson has range, sees the floor and can D up but that's only a few of the recently added to my 2015 UTR list. We'll have more on her coming up after the Peggy Whitley Classic next week

EVENTS

Mackenzie Green will be at Bobby Knight December 15th

Mackenzie Green is all smiles however I'm the one that's smiling because she's one of the states top prospects for 2019. this is how it work, when I call it, someone will answer, I'm just keeping it real. Green is already showing what type of work ethic she has, it's apparent in her game each time I see her and she will be traveling from Houston to Duncanville for the Hoop-A-Holics camp I'll be covering for PASSTHABALL

Players are registering from across the state as well as outside of Texas and when I say players from out west are coming, I'm not just talking about stars from San Antonio, I'm talking California. I'll be doing features on some of the top players that I've already seen in one form or another and remember this is also an EVALUATION event

Early bird registration ends December 6th

Clear Springs frosh duo ready to carry torch

It didn't take me long to realize Tesharian Robinson and Sierra Cheatham had tremendous upside a couple of years ago and their progression has me thinking, scratch, has me knowing they'll be big time players in this city. The Brooke McCarty era is in it's final run however The Chosen One's sequel has these two as the ones who will be helping Clear Springs stay among the top teams. Peggy Whitley Classic up next

EVENTS

Banfield getting it done early in her freshman season

Marissa Banfield is simply one of those players that I saw something special in at a very early age and she kept working. It's paying off in a large way as the Westbury Christian star took AISD champ to the limit last week in the semi's.

Mouton not only hidden Treazure at Hightower for 2017 class

They grow up so fast and if they work hard on their skills and weaknesses, so do their games and Treazure Mouton is doing just that. The Hightower freshman is making a name for herself on the Hurricanes varsity along with another monster, Lenecia Mitchell. I caught them at the FBISD and will probably see them on Championship Saturday next week at the Katy Nike Classic. Guess what, there others from the same class ready to, get this, make them Category 5 once again

EVENTS

Monster trio sending early message

Today is going to be area Monster Class s/o day and three of the nations top 2017 players, hey they have multiple BCS offers right now, soooooo

Kayla Owens has helped make Langham Creek a legitimate threat, Alexis Morris is averaging close to 30 at Legacy Christian while Didi Richards is a triple double waiting to happen at Cy Ranch.

This photo is from John Lucas' 40/40 Camp and North Shore's Chastity Patterson would have mad it a quad as she too has multiple BCS offers on the table and is also ranked among the top 2017 players in the country, remember I'm doing AREA!!!!!!

Creek future becoming more Clear after #txinv

Lacey Savage and Hannah Froeschl are all smiles after their third place finish in the Gold D2. Savage and Froeschl along with Alex Simmons and Caitlyn Burroway are part of, drum-roll please, that 2017 MONSTER class floating through Texas

I've had a chance to see these young ladies a few times already to know that before it's said and done, they'll have their team heading up the Creek. Next week, Peggy Whitley Classic and I'll get a closer look at the freshmen along with Mia Hayes and Haley Savage. In fact, Hayes and the Savage duo combined for 39 of the teams 45 points in the 3rd place champioship game

Atascocita sends early message for Katy Nike Classic

Ancacia Wilkinson and Hannah Hopkins form quite an inside duo for "The Taz" but trust me, even though I haven't seen Atascocita this season, they have more that these two. Last night, the defeated district rival Dekaney 53-47 and are one of the teams that will be in the Katy Nike Classic

I'll be there for Championship Saturday all day long

Spring Creek Barbecue Mansfield Invitational updated

Last season, on opening day, Mackenzie Calvert put on a show at the Mansfield Rotary Tournament. The tournament's name might have changed but exciting players galore will be there. I've seen front-runners for 5A in Regions 1, 2 and 3 so will Cibolo Steele separate itself for 4?

I'll be a Mansfield HS opening day

Katy Nike Tournament updated

This photo fits because Katy Taylor was #AutoAwesome during the FBISD Tournament. Next week, two biggies coming up, Katy Nike and Peggy Whitley events will be, well #AWESOME too

St Pius has had a rash of injuries and have dropped out of the Katy Nike Classic, they've been replaced by Episcopal. Brackets have been updated, I'll be at Peggy Whitley Thursday and Friday and in Katy on Saturday

Size don't matter Tuesday

I love playing with new things and figuring them out so I downloaded the Who Won app on my IPAD however no WiFi was available at the Texas Invitational sites so I didn't have a chance to use it. Yesterday I was going through it and saw some stories one of the top "SIZE Don't Matter" players in the state, Tana Driver

Driver is also on my 2015 Under The Radar list however roll through the stories on the Who Won app and you'll see why Mids and Bigs are showing interest, lots of it

Here's the link for the Play Store, click and for ITunes click

Smith SUPER for Duncanville at #txinv

Keyanna Smith has made some huge plays for Duncanville over the past two seasons however none, that I've personally see, were as important as the ones she came up with in the Texas Invitational. She provided the spark they needed to get by North Shore and down the stretch against Manvel, the same thing.

Redic adds another shooter for Clear Springs at #txinv

Jaon Redic is about to battle for a rebound however her long range shooting is the main reason she made the "Size Don't Matter" Tip Sheet. Clear Springs did a more than admirable job at the Texas Invitational even though  they ran out of gas on the last day. Nevertheless, I saw enough to know that with added firepower, you just never know. For more on Redic

Elise Rodriguez missed the Texas Invitational however much needed return to La Porte came at the right time. Last night, Rodriguez scored 22 points and came close to a double-double with her assists. ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Alycea Price Women's Basketball 11/20/2013

East Central University women’s basketball senior Alycea Price had a strong week for the Lady Tigers in their two wins over non-conference opponents.

Price tallied two-straight double-doubles with 13 points and 10 rebounds against St. Gregory’s (Nov. 12) and 15 points and 11 rebounds against Rogers State (Nov. 16).

How ya like me now?

I cracked this young lady up when I told her I was taking pictures of her taking pictures and as the day progresses, I find ways to humor myself, especially if the ball isn't played, well the best way possible. I invest a lot of time and energy and often have to go through bad basketball to find next level players because I'll always stand by my #talentiseverywhere statement.

I had a chat with someone and they made a comment about folks not liking what they did and my response was I deal with idiots who don't like me and don't even why and for the most part I was probably the first or only person to ever write about their kid, so my advice was based on a song and what it said about the chatter in the background

The sad part about it so many find themselves in bad situations because they just don't know. It takes time and energy and more importantly money to get your child in the best position possible for the next level however that works both ways and you have to always think about your return

I stress this time and time again, I'll keep it real with you because I'm not out for the quick hitter

Ortiz holding it down for Temple at #txinv

The music on the court from "Jazz" Ortiz is smooth and mellow and her picture tells just that, or does it? Ortiz sliced and diced her way to the basket for points however that stroke I saw at a young age is still there. The Temple of Doom will crank back up when Tyesha Taylor returns but until then, given J an inch on D more than likely spells another doom

Nash explodes in #txinv

Unsigned Jasmine Nash picked up the pace somewhat at the Texas Invitational. The Klein Collins star had a three-for-all as she was on target in what seems like every game I saw her in. On Thursday night, Nash erupted for five threes in the first half and on Saturday morning, I arrived with five minutes left in the first half and saw her drop three more. The 2014 Under The Radar player has the ability to take games over and once she realizes that, her game will expand even more and she made the tip sheet

OGWUMIKE goes off at #txinv

Erica Ogwumike has always been a team first player and I remember watching her run the one and giving the ball to players that couldn't make lay-ups when she was around I guess 8 or 9 and she would always tell them they'd make it the next time. She's still supportive and plays with her trademark smile and whether it's a game winning block, a game winning bucket or almost dropping 40, this young lady was on fire for Cy Woods at the Texas Invitational and that's why she made the Tip Sheet

The Chosen One still showing "why" at #txinv

I've mentioned several times that Brooke McCarty is worth over 20 points to her Clear Springs HS team because she does what a point guard is supposed to do and that's help make her teammates better by putting them in the right situations. An added element of her game is that at her size, she can simply dominate offensively, her 18 points in the opening quarter in one of her games at the Texas Invitational tell the story, or does it. She dropped right at 40, she probably could have had 50 or 60 but once the game was in hand, she set her teammates up. She doesn't care who scores, her response of I have no idea wen I asked how many points she finished with says it all. The future Longhorn made yet another Tip Sheet
