19-5A Goes 3-1

Bellaire was the lone HISD 5-A team to win last night and win they did as they opened up a 25-6 lead after the first quarter and cruised to a 69-42 victory. The first quarter told the story as the Cardinals shot 5-7 from bta, ironically one of their best three point shooters, Raven Burns, missed the two which is good news for Bellaire because we all know she is capable of "Burning Up The Nets" as I wrote during the summer. AJ Alix set the stage scoring knocking down 3 of their three pointers while dishing out three assists, which has her offensive tear continuing after the Westside game last week and which is why she is"The Real Deal", that's another story in case you missed it. It's about to get interesting for the Cardinals as they face Cy Woods in the next round. Woods beat Bellaire in the second round last season and I'm sure both teams will be ready

Seven Lakes and Cinco Ranch handled Westbury and Lamar with ease as they move ahead to the next round. Seven Lakes will play Cy Ranch who pulled off a victory against Eisenhower (70-49) in a game I thought would have been a lot closer while Cinco Ranch will play the Elsik vs Cy Creek winner.

I mentioned Bellaire was the only team from 20-5A to pull off a victory last night however Alexis Hill did manage to keep Westside in it against Katy Taylor for three quarters, she finished with 26 points

Taylor got impressive minutes from their freshmen Kyana Hatfield-Mills and Samantha Roach which is good news since the Mustangs have struggled offensively every time I saw them this season. Here's the story on
