When they were under TWELVE #AI18

Had to dig deep into the archives for this one but I've been knowing many of these talented players from the Bryan/College Station for a very long time, keep in mind my daughter was a freshman at Texas A&M in 2007 and many of these players were at numerous games over the years, Precious and Treece Daily (Mexia) Darby Hurley (A&M Consolidated) Ziggy Richards (Rudder) Rebekah Hailey and Alexys King (College Station) in fact King was actually a ball girl and her energy told me even before she played she would make a lot of noise over the years

Precious wasn't on that original team, she's a freshman but her along with now sophomores Sissy Thompson and Nay Johnson (College Station) showed me a lot really quickly on the younger team but this was a trip I had to make because with the exception of Hailey, the others are seniors so here we go quickly as College Station won Aggieland Invitational, Rudder came in 2nd and A&M Consolidated finished 6th

Alexys King -straw that stirs the drink, can score in droves in fact she scored double digits in the second half of three of the games I caught during the event but her ability to do it in the flow as well as shoot the long ball and score off the dribble makes her one of the top UNSIGNED players in Texas

Rebekah Hailey-just keeps adding to her impressive offensive repertoire. The long ball was already there but she's creating her own shot, under pressure and mixing it up nicely and watching her go C2C countless times with the stop and pop ....

Trece Daily -size doesn't matter when you can play and boy did she play. Took the game over down the stretch against Graham with clutch assists and baskets not to mention was ice from the free throw line

Ziggy Richards- helped Rudder pull off huge upset against Hendrickson who was ranked #1 by TABC in 6A. Richards has hit some big shots but none bigger than her basket stopping a late Hendrickson run

Darby Hurley-does so many things that don't show up in the box score but don't get it twisted, off the dribble, mid to long range, she puts the ball in the basket however she gets key rebounds and assists and made several huge defensive stops to help them finish strong in the event

Aggieland Invitatioinal opens and closes on day 1 with excitement

Plenty of star power to open up Aggieland Invitational to start my day off and it definitely was impressive to see 5 different players from College Station to drop the long ball including Alexys King who had near a triple double as they advance to the quarterfinals in the D1 division against Wylie at 12:30 and the winner of that game will play the Manvel vs Rockwall winner tonight at 6:30

On the other side of the bracket, A&M Consolidated with some impressive wins, Darby Hurley filling up the stat sheet including this pass my great photographer caught of her threading the needle to Cierra Gilbert for a basket. Gilbert also helped save the gave with an offensive rebound and put back then a defensive rebound to help them advance to the quarterfinals against TABC RANKED #1  6A Hendrickson whose loaded with firepower including soph Zoe Nelson one of the top players in Texas and Mikayla Woods who came up HUGE down the stretch  and her scoring and stealing  helped them hang on

In the D2  Division, Mexia held on as Treece Daily and her younger sister Precious proved #sizedontmatter when you can play. Treece was ice from the line down the stretch taking the game over during the last 2 minutes while Precious free throw helped put more frosting on the ice. They run into The Village who will be without 6'3 Jada Malone, one of the top freshmen in the country but still have sharpshooter Aiken Semones and Tymverlin Criswell who had the move of the day on opening day as she split two defenders and spun on another, in one motion for the finish

Clutch City Tip Sheet #PrimeTime

Last weekends Prime Time tournament gave me a glimpse of even more talented young players that will be entering high school if not next year, within the next couple so it's always good to see the talent continuing to flow. I don't if everyone realizes that I really don't watch scores, I write that almost weekly and at some point it should register but my primary goal is to find players that can play at the next level. Lady Chaos brought a couple of teams down to the event from Louisiana, I didn't know everyone's name when they were here last month but they definitely have some talent as they won 6/7 and 9/10 grades. Here are some of the players that caught my eye over the weekend

2017

Ogechi Nwodo (Knights) college ready body and an abundance of potential. She's around six feet, athletic and goes after everything in the paint, runs floor well and can defend . Just started playing a year ago huge upside

Isabella Rathgeb (Insiders) long and athletic, can get to the rim easily and finish strong with either hand. Good IQ, can also step out and hit midrange and can defend under basket or from the perimeter.

2018

Kalea Hartman (Northside Ballerz) athletic guard that brings plenty of energy on both ends, plays passing lanes well, showed she could handle ball under pressure and hit the midrange plus she gets to rim and finishes with both hands

Frances King (TWELVE) has made a huge jump from last year, more intensity and aggressiveness usually come with maturity but her ability to turn into a scorer, meaning she finds ways to put ball in basket, blew me away


2019

Pamela Igbokwey (3220 Elite) long and athletic, plenty of upside to go with her 74 inches. She understands the simple things and has good skills but what I like is that she can simply get after it and won't back down. Time is on her side and she has a bright future

Alona Gray (Lady Chaos)

2020

Alona Gray (Lady Chaos) lighting has nothing on her as she bolts from one end to another. Loves to D up and plays passing lanes extremely well but trying to guard her is somewhat of a problem with her deadly first step

Khyra Cooper (Madville Lady Ballers) her length, athleticism and age tells me she's a next level lock and once she fine tunes a few things, who knows how high she can go. It's there, I saw that after a couple of minutes and once she lets it completely out....

Priscilla Williams ( Shooting Starz) I saw this kid walking bouncing the ball and asked what grade she was in and just on that I went to catch her game. She's close to six feet, she's long and her range was worthy of ABC TV last night. She creates extremely well for her age and I'm thinking HUGE down the road

Precious Daily & Cornecia  "Sissy" Thompson

2021

Sissy Thompson (TWELVE) has an arsenal of weapons I've seen few with at her age, she certainly understands the most important things, how to score and how to stop whoever she's guarding from scoring. Huge upside for both her and her cousin Precious who has been out with a minor injury and I have both pegged as among the tops in their class in TX

Kailey Yokum (Lady Chaos) Physical player and doesn't mind giving or receiving it on either end but that tells only part of the story as she showed she could rebound, defend and finish and that along with her age spells trouble on the court

Collette Taylor (Elite)

There is nothing like catching talented players for the first time and this past weekends Prime Time event at Texas Tornado had an abundance of talent including another 2020 "can't miss" prospect I've found hidden away, she'll be coming on the ever so important Girlz Prep Report Tip Sheet

My first look at Collette Taylor was a good one, she's a small guard that can create her shot as well as create for her teammates plus handle the ball under pressure while I had yet another look at Aaliyah Williams, a young lady I wrote about over a YEAR ago, it's always a good idea to use the search bar but I caught Williams with Lady Chaos a few months ago and the progression continues for this talented 8th grader who has plenty of upside read more

Precious & Sissy (they're cousins)

I wonder if Precious Daily and Cornecia Thompson are smiling because they're finally going to be able to play ball in school, I doubt it because these are couple of the best 2021 players I've seen in the state and both have plenty of upside left so when we come back later, remember I told you so. Be ready for a Tip Sheet on some of the top players I saw over the weekend and as an added bonus I'll have something on TWELVE's organization so stay tuned and if you don't follow me on Twitter, you may miss something

Texas Lady Elite finish strong

Precious Cross is all smiles as she and her Texas Lady Elite's traveled from Amarillo with seven players, one of them 4th grader Kaylee Rendon. Rendon got a taste of what it's going to honest with you the young lady was poised and shows a lot of promise, especially considering the age difference at the Prime Time College Prep Challenge

Amanda Roop showed she could shoot the three, while Addison D'Neal's midrange jumpers helped out on the offense which was ran by feisty point guard, Brittany Constancio while Kari Collins made her presence felt on the inside

And speaking of on the inside Cross and Autumn Williams were virtually unstoppable in the paint on day one as both were aggressive and went after everything on both ends

Prime Time New Caney ends, well #AutoAwesome

I never start a tournament wrap the same way, I just go with the flow and I'll be throwing some stuff at you over the next few days on what got me going. First of all thanks to everyone for getting me rosters, again if I don't know who the players are, as good as I am or think I am, it's simply hard to say something about them if I had a chance to catch them in action


I spoke about the pipeline of Houston Premier, Katy Rebels and Cy Fair Shock but I had a chance to watch several Dynasty teams in depth and after I tweeted Blake Carrington would be proud, few got it, but nevertheless three different teams made it to the semi-finals in the 7/8, 9/10 and 11/12 grade divisions and runner-up finishes in the first two wasn't a joke

There was no joking around on Super Sunday as I was just glued to my seat, literally speaking, but there were some tense games that had me hash-tagging #downtothewire and both of those 11/12  semis were simply breathtaking

New kids on the block , Twelve, simply blew me away with the high energy level and just as high basketball IQ from a number of players including 5th grade cousins, Precious Daily and Cornecia Thompson, hey Google + did the picture like this, I guess it saw them play because it seemed like it was more than one coming at you. It get's even better, Daily has an older sister playing with her on Twelve, 2019 "Trecee" as the cousins shared the 7/8 grade title while an even older sister, 2016 Patrickia helped lead her Lady Elite team to the 11/12 grade title

Just sit back and relax, I need to recoup a tad, run some errands and give a S/O to not only the Hybrids for being on the verge of exploding but a huge one to Bay Area Blaze who has placed in every event I caught them and after the game, I told this young lady I tweeted "Who's Afraid of Ariel Wolfe ? well you should be" and asked her if she got it, she didn't but she and her teammates have it on  the court, check ya later!

Basketball On The Bayou-Essence Purple

Time Is Of The Essence-definition:time and dates mentioned in contract are very important to maintain and should not be ignored by any of the party under any circumstances or in other words, just because Top 10 and 6'4 Rachel Holivay isn't playing with the club and Precious Hall is 100%, this team has shown they are a group of young ladies to be reckoned with

Alexis Prince is everything I heard she was and with her size and strength, she makes things look quite easy against opponents on both ends of the court and can score from a variety of ways. Destinty Jones is another offensive threat who kept Essence close against T Jack in the Mardi Gras finals scoring 14 first half points

This squad is fast and furious and even though they may not be the same Essence team, don't count them out

Rudder still talented and explosive #FBISDTournament

The Lady Rangers of Rudder didn't catch my eye late last season simply because I knew several players on the team, including the Suber twins and the Daily sisters and had watched them play since middle school so it definitely wasn't a surprise at seeing them making a state title run and even though they fell short they still have several ingredients remaining to do it again

Kiana Suber iced the regional final last season from the line, she and her twin sister Brianna bring plenty of heat both offensively and defensively and as athletic and acrobatic as they are, they keep adding to their games. Megan Daily could always shoot the three, she's shooting at a higher percentage while her sister Trisha Daily brings so much pressure on defense while still handling pressure to run the team and scoring when needed

While the older Daily sisters ate seniors, more are coming starting with freshman Trecee who it seems like I've been knowing even before she was in school, I'm serious the more I think about it I'm pretty close. I was super impressed with her poise as she stepped out on the floor and handled the heat and I already know what type of talent she possesses after catching her in club ball and I can't wait to see her and the baby, Precious, go to work in a couple of years

Deyesha Wilbert is long and athletic, a shade under the magic number and definitely will create problems all season while Kiara Benford and Tieshton Thompson fill in many of the blanks without any let up when they're on the floor so I wouldn't be surprised to see this talented group at Campbell Center again making another run

LAST SEASON

ASA invading HoopersRUs September 2nd

The connection with many of the young ladies who play with ASA dates back to almost 10 years ago when my daughter first got to Texas A&M and I remember a whole lot of little kids that were so full of energy but I never gave it a second thought as to "future" basketball stars. Ironically a few years later I saw many of those young ladies playing for TWELVE which had several talented players from the the Brazos Valley area including Treece and Precious Daily and when they came up to me and gave me a hug, it took me a minute to realize these were the same players so I knew I had to check their games out and believe me I wasn't disappointed

Over the years I've had a chance to watch their multiple squads and although the name has been changed , the game hasn't as these young ladies keep getting better throughout the organization so I'm happy to see that not only the Daily sisters, but Darby Hurley, Hannah Matthews and D'Asia White will be on hand for the HoopersRUs event coming on September 2nd. All five of these young ladies have been featured on one of my Tip Sheets in the past, most recently Matthews after Prime Time Nationals but like I tell people and always remember I don't say things with data and common sense, talent is EVERYWHERE if you know what you're looking at

September 2nd at MI-3 will be hot and believe me when I say, EVERY player in attendance will be EVALUATED and one of my new saying is "you need to pay ATTENTION and not just PAY so  sign up before registration closes

TWELVE blows me away #PrimeTime

Watching these eager and talented young ladies from around the College Station area truly was a joy as it brought back memories on a number of fronts. With a mixture of players from the 2018 to 2021 classes, TWELVE won the 7/8 Grade Division during the Prime Time Tournament held at the end of the month in New Caney Texas

Wayneshia "Trecee" Daily does so many good things, she's strong, athletic, can defend, get to the rim and score from just about anywhere but her basketball instincts are ahead of her age and when you have that type of combination, that's a pretty good foundation. When you talk about range however Gracie Hawkins and Alexis King can already be labeled as zone busters and when all were on, I was in a different type of zone

I can't wait to see this team again, they know and understand the game and the strength of Sierra Reismeier, Zaria Richards and Kasey Jo Hinton was a good sign because they go after everything. Hinton wants to play ball in college, well she's tall, handles the ball in the open court, can finish inside or face the basket and has excellent timing. She also keeps the ball high and ignited many fast breaks via outlets and she even banked in a couple, so yes, she definitely has a next level shot as well as her teammates

How about Frances King zig zagging through traffic as she broke the press single handily a few times and she found ways to get to the basket and to the line but  with her athleticism along with time, she will be doing some damage. Hannah Hawkins and Darby Hurley will also be doing plenty of damage, both handle and see the floor well and can create their own shot which is cool because Hurley is 2019 and Hawkins is 2020 so time is definitely on their side

Well time is also on the side of the babies, cousins Precious Daily and Corcenia Thompson because they will bring me fun from the Class of 2021. Both are simply fearless, weren't fazed at playing up, getting hit or talking the big shot. Daily is the younger sister of Wayneshia who is her teammate and they have an older sister, Patrickia, who also helped her Lady Elite team leave with a championship

Lady Dominators make strides #PrimeTime #RunnerUp11/12 Grade Division

The Lady Dominators are always fun for me to watch, I love on ball defense and pressing baseline especially when you have the personnel that can do it, this simply get's you back in games if your down or can open things up in a hurry and one of the fastest players in the state with the ball, Deja Hughes, came up big again. Hughes really doesn't even have to score to be effective, she just worries and bother whoever she's on while creating turnovers but her first step is a blur and her improved range makes her more than just a one dimensional player

Hughes isn't by herself with the speed, Eboni Jones brings it on both ends plus has range while Trevanique Norris just has so many weapons, I don't think she realizes how good she is. Chante Francis and Katrionna Washington apply so much heat defense, now you get what I'm talking about regarding making things happen. Precious Williams and Daneisha Simmons created problems on both ends

Shannon Jones realizes her worth, she's one of the top players in the state and she can do so many things that she's almost like a silent assassin. The young lady that keeps being "JEFFERSONIZED" and by that I mean she's "movin on up" that list of mine is Taylor Alexander. She's VERY vocal on the floor and goes hard the whole game which equates to never taking a play off. Alexander has improved in every aspect of her game and she's going to get even better

Cy Ranch overpowers Westfield in opening round of #FBISDTournament

Westfield has a lot of fight and are off to a good start however you have a handful of teams, okay maybe two handfuls that have a shot at getting out of here and just like players who go on to play at different levels in college, the same applied with teams and Cy Ranch happens to be among the best of the best in this area and after this tournament, maybe the state. Those high flying young ladies, DiDi Richards and Sydney Coleman, are just off to a tremendous start and what I'm getting from the youngsters, Richards, Rachel Tapps and Arriana Whitfield, who comes in early off the bench is that they all truly think they can get out of here

I'm sure Cienna Rivera believes it, hey after they knocked off San Antonio Johnson is this very tournament last season I thought they had a shot but losing Sydney Coleman simply did it and always say, you can't lose an SC, imagine if I stop doing what I do. I already told yall how this was going to play out, this team, if they stay healthy, is one of around six to eight teams that can and will make a run

Westfield's Precious Cross came up to me and asked did I remember her and I responded "yeah you owe me some money" and trust me, that's going to work one day. After she told me her name, I did remember because as I said in the story, she was virtually unstoppable, read more

With Cross and EJ Bryant putting in the work on the inside and along with several other talented players like sophomore Deja Keys, this game meant absolutely nothing to me, Cy Ranch is just better, the thing I enjoyed was Westfield fought to very end and that's what it's supposed to be about. I'll catch them later. In the battle of the Mustangs, one team ran faster but the main thing is that they both ran until it was over. Top that!

TWELVE wins 7th Grade Championship #PrimeTime

This photo probably best describes the early morning game to crank off Championship Sunday at MI3 Center between TWELVE and Crossover in my first area tournament I'm covering from Prime Time Sports. TWELVE held on to win the game which proved to be the one for the title in the 7th grade division in a game that could have gone either way and definitely went down to the wire. TWELVE blew me away last season and although I didn't think they would be able to pull this often before the game, after the opening tip I remembered why they actually blew me away because they simply keep coming at you.

Precious Daily is one of several talented sisters and she has star written all over her simply because I said so. Well it actually goes a little bit deeper, she's playing up and starts at the one, that 's where the game starts but her IQ on the court is so advanced for her age. She and fellow '21 Cornecia Thompson make this team go, both attack strong and play defense but can open up things from the outside. Big ups to Sha'Dimon King who improves every time I see her and she did a great job in the paint on both ends

TWELVE won this game because of their role players and the heat Jessica Ransom brought on defense was smoking. Huge plays by Cameron Richards, Hart Ray, Olivia  Fox and Payton Dirdot as well as key rebounding Katie Jo Lingo throughout the event. Fox and Ava Pointer also made good decisions in crunch time as well as Dirdot who did a touch pass for a lay-up that got the team, crowd and myself fired up

I tried to catch pictures of Precious Daily however that proved to be a challenge because it appears she's as quick off the court as she is on it so either she did something she'[s already mastered on the floor, anticipated what I was about to do and turned her head

The team was a combination of two when I caught them earlier in the season and when I saw the maroon and several familiar faces, it hit me, so I had to make sure they would be on my "must see" list the next day and by was I glad I did

On thing about me, II don't have anything but time so I caught the younger Daily sister in action. This team has a lot of talent, wait, their two teams and I can't wait to watch their progression over the years

ASA @PrimeTimeSportz #SWRegional

You have to realize I'm a very complex guy and when you throw in nostalgic as well as sentimental, well it kind of tears me up as I watch many of these kids grow up right before my eyes. ASA , formerly TWELVE , has some players I met while my daughter played at Texas A&M and I'll never forget almost 10 years ago seeing Precious and Treece Daily, who are heading to the 9th and 10th grades respectively, wait a minute, man I am old, but you get the picture.

Darby Hurley, Sailor Smith and Lauren Peters have all shown they could shoot the ball while Treece Daily just brings so much energy on both ends and can score multiple ways. Love the way Hurley has added even more to her offensive repertoire as she did a good job of not only creating her shot but attacking the basket but let me say this, I see improvement in all of the young ladies I've watched over the years from this organization

Kaylea Walker was a bright spot as she and Zaria Richards kept things going smoothly . Jocelyn Young and Shakira Rayford also brought plenty of heat baseline to baseline and LaTayvia Byrd just soars over opponents. She's a battler on the boards and can finish but battling and finishing doesn't stop there as Shakayla Burns makes the Prime Time SW Regional Tip Sheet
