Katy Tournament -Day1

Barbers Hill vs Klein Collins

The game started out with Barbers Hill's Kendall Shaw scoring and then KC going on a 12-4 run, with 6 different Collins players scoring. The game appeared to be over early but Barbers Hill kept fighting back and in the third quarter finally cut the lead to under 10, high scorers after three were Veja Hamilton with 20 for KC and Shaw 17 with Collins up 46-38. The final quarter was all Hill as they came back to win.

DAY OF REDEMPTION

The much anticipated match-ups between Elsik and Cy Falls, along with Hightower against Seven Lakes proved once again that the games are played on the court. After being down by over 30 at one point on Tuesday night, Elsik came out off the top and showed what they were made of.

Jasmine Ocanas and Crystal Porter led Elsik past Cy Falls as another #1 team has fallen and now we have no more undefeated teams in our area that are 5-A. Falls was up by as many as 18, Ocanas with 5 three pointers

Although she has never received the credit she deserves, Brittney Matthew once again showed why she's one of the top guards in the area. This acrobatic and athletic young lady was everywhere and led Hightower to a big win over Seven Lakes and then another against Elsik later that evening. If you recall, Seven Lakes beat Hightower in the Fort Bend Tournament by double digits, but the Hurricanes appear to be back and operated at Level 5 wind speed on Friday.

Cinco Ranch vs Atascocita

Can anyone say upset? Atascocita lost to Katy Taylor on Tuesday and it appeared they would be on a collision course to meet them again. After squeaking by Mansfield Timberview, they had to meet Cinco Ranch who had beaten Channelview earlier in the day Shayne Ortiz, Peyton Crump and Emily Richard were on fire for Cinco as they jumped to an early lead and were up by 5 late in the game

A turnaround jumper by Rachel Mitchell sent the game into over time, where the Taz went ahead and took care of business

Curtyce Knox and Chrishauna Parker were brilliant to say the least for the Taz while Megan Palmer showed she can do more than score as her teammates were set up by her on many occasions

This Cinco mom was all smiles and rightfully so. This game will go a long way as the team goes into district and now it appears there may be a three way fight for the district title

Bush vs Mayde Creek

This was my first look at two teams who might be on the verge of a playoff berth but it's going to be tough because of the districts they are in. Jaz Parker still provides the firepower for Mayde Creek.

Bush has a variety of weapons including Victoria who is no longer a secret
