Aldine Tournament-Day 1

RUDDER VS LINCOLN

Rudder was on a mission last year and put together a solid season, many thought they might make it to Austin however sometimes things just don't happen like they should. This season, they lost the Tucker sisters who moved on to A&M Consolidated but this is still a pretty good team, lead by Marche Amerson, Fatima Adams and Lamaria Cole, all juniors.

Licoln jumped out in front early and coasted to a 15 point point halftime lead, only to watch Rudder close out the third down by only two. Kamisha Turner (3) and Brianna Hayden (4) helped extend the lead, but Raquel McWright (22) put it out of reach with a free throw, a bucket, then a steal and another bucket and Lincoln never looked back

Nae Nae Hayden's was DFW Newcomer of the year and she finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds. If the last name sounds familiar, her older sister, Kimetria, starred at Lincoln and is now doing her thing for Baylor.

HARKER HEIGHTS vs LUFKIN

I wanted to hit Aldine on Day 1 so I could get a chance to see some of  the teams from out of town

It's always good to see the talent level around the state

Williams kept Heights honest in the first half

Post Ebony Jeiter got the offense going several times in first half

Brianna Golden was solid

Lufkin stayed with Heights in the first half, putting together swveral impressive runs but the game got away from them in the second half

Heights Brianna Freeman put together a pretty impressive offensive performance in the 2nd half

Shanice Davis had a tough second half, first being scratched and then taking a hard hit

SUMMER CREEK vs KLEIN OAK

I had followed Klein Oak in the Alodia Fall League along with the Conroe Tournament , however I hadn't seen Summer Creek and this was an ideal time to catch them

Katelyn Johnson shows a lot of promise

Alicia Scott got Klein Oak's offense going early with a jumper

Taylor Vaughn is one of the two juniors on this young squad

Jasper Maybry was attacking the rim at will

while Johnson was running the offense

It was great to see Coach Angie McDonald back on the sidelines. The former Cy Falls coach said she missed the game and her is very young, with two juniors, seven sophomores and one frshman
