Xoey Ross has her bags packed and ready as she showed me a whole lot in both games. Her ability to handle the ball under pressure immediately stood out, that and her seeing the floor, both huge pluses yet she also scores off the dribble and played the passing lane well. Italia Moore is long and athletic, remember that's the base, rebounded strongly, finished the same way on putbacks while Hartley Barnes also scored off the dribble but I definitely see upside galore with several players like Hartley Barnes who also, scored off the dribble

Alexia Bibb also handles the ball well and has good court vision, her passes are on the money and drumroll please, she plays the passing lane but Aubrey Davis also plays the passing lane, and get this, she's long and athletic with size. Gabby Archer did a good job of attacking the basket as well as defending. Finley Heihn, Hadley Ternet, and Mychal Henderson round out this talented squad

Skyrise 2019 @PrimeTimeSports #SWRegional

I always have enjoyed watching Chyndall Daniels play, love watching her younger sister who is filled with so much potential, I even enjoy watching her year old baby sister snatch grapes because quick hands at a young age are a good sign. Another good sign is the progression Daniels made from last summer to HS and now this where she seems to be defying gravity for baskets on her talented Skyrise squad

Talk about improvement, Melanie Wenkebach, who was nursing a minor injury and didn't play this weekend, along Haley Wesley have taken their games up so I see their hard work is paying off. New addition Summer Hubbard also has been working on her game as it translates to the court which is what you want it do

Janil Joseph and Shaniya Klauser have looked good this season, so has Jayda Kmiec, Toni Ricks and Alexia Mason but one of the biggest surprises of the tournament for me was a player that evidently I hadn't seen or seen enough of but I had to get up and find out who Zaire Banks was and let me tell you, oh wait, check her out on the Tip Sheet

Alexia Torres makes decision

There are so many diamonds in  the rough that I've simply watched from a young age and I knew Alexia Torres was going to amaze me years ago. Although I never caught her putting on a show for her Incarnate Word HS squad, I caught her numerous times doing some pretty unbelievable things with her San Antonio Islanders club squad

Some said she was too small, I said whatever, she simply got the job done and when you have certain things you can't teach, like comprehending the game and breaking it down, you're in the mix but what sealed it for me as far as evaluating her was watching her shoot the ball and she will go to St. Mary's University as one of the state's best long ball shooters.

She played the one when needed, she showed she could defend and her ability to play the passing lanes ranks among the best I've seen in her class but when you have players that always have a knack for being around the ball, players that are willing to take the shot under pressure and players that can DELIVER better than my mailman, you've definitely got something

I asked Torres on why she decided on St Mary's and she said " I really liked how close it was to my home, my family and friends can still watch me and I think I can help the program" Torres also said " the atmosphere just felt right, it's a small close knit group"

After being named All Tournament at the Jack Frost Classic ,Alexia Torres continues to do some spectacular things including a couple of 25 point scoring games in that very tournament. Torres has been solid ever since I started watching her play three years and one of the players that has left me many exciting memories including several buzzer beaters. This got me thinking about just how many times this young lady has done just that and I truly don’t know however on top of everything I’ve said about this talented unsigned guard, not only does she want the ball in the clutch, she also delivers and with her range, knowledge of the game and skill set, I'm certain of what she'll be able to do at the next level

In her freshman season as starting Varsity Point Guard for Marshall HS, she had a number of them. The video shows 3 buzzer beaters in the same game. As a sophomore against crosstown right Rival Antonian HS, she had a number of deep 3's in the 3rd quarter capped by a buzzer beater. As a junior, she had 3  memorable ones, 1st from half court, 2nd to win the game against a state ranked SA Cole, 2rd came in her final game of the playoffs. As a senior, she hits a buzzer beater at the Jack Frost Tournament. Maybe her last, maybe she still has a few more up her sleeve and I’m banking on the latter. Unsigned shooter Alexia Torres on fire for Incarnate Word

Over the past four seasons, a team that was on my must see list was the San Antonio Islanders because what they possessed was a group of young ladies who simply played smart, played hard and beat several teams that on paper they shouldn't have.. On top of all of that, they had numerous guards that could drop long ball and anticipate the pass and Alexia Torres simply blew me away watching her over that time span. I haven't seen her play at Incarnate Word however over the weekend Torres helped lead her squad to the Sharpstown Rotary Tournament by defeating three talented teams, SATCH, Westbury Christian and Kinkaid and all three of those teams have legitimate D1 players on them

Torres was named MVP of the tournament averaging just under 14 ppg and she did it without having to shoot the long ball a lot which shows how complete her game has become, she also added 3.6 assists and 2 steals per game for the event, keep in mind Westbury Christian and Kincaid are ranked in the Top 10 on TABC Private School, well so is IWHS but this sort of sets the stage for whats coming. Last night, Torres dropped 17 against TABC 6A #3 ranked San Antonio Wagner, star sophomore Sophia Ramos added 26 as they pulled off a 62-53 win

I-45 Shootout Showcase 2016 group

Pass Tha Ball gave this right name as in I-45 Shootout Showcase because it features several play I told you about that will venture off into the next level with me saying " I told you so" which unlike me, never gets old. Commitments from SA Islanders "Under The Radar" sharpshooter Alexia Torres is in as well as her tough as nails back-court Tara Molina

Also on hand are four players I have on my GPR Texas Top 20 Dorian Branch, Alyssa Okoebe, Jasmine Williams and Jaelyn Richard-Harris, the small in stature yet big in heart guard I told you was the best pure point guard from the area, maybe the state and after what she did in July, " I TOLD YOU SO"

'16 Alexia Torres is ready for fireworks to begin #UnderTheRadar

True story, three years ago I'm checking out another team and I see these guards going off on another court. I've never seen these players but they were like clones, interchangeable pieces to a machine running with precision that I had to find out who they were. Alexia Torres was one of the guards, I'm watching this young lady drop 30 footers yet timing the inbound passes just right to get steals for layups numerous times. Torres is a player, any misconceptions you may have are WRONG, I've truly enjoyed this team get after it and beat teams on paper they are not supposed to, yes I will always root for the underdog, well most of the time

Can she shoot it? You missed what I said in the first paragraph, yeah she's a long ball threat yet over the years I've watched her add finishing off the dribble with contact as well as the midrange but when you can shoot and also happen to be a very smart player, you can turn games around and believe me I have seen some excitement from this young lady. Okay, why don't we do this, put down the sparkles and check what I've said prior to her cranking it up at the Super 64

Heavy Hitters on hand for SYE Alamo City Classic

Some of the states top teams will be on hand this weekend for the Sophia Young Elite Alamo City Classic. The list of players is min boggling as some of the best young talent in the state coupled with some of the top 2016 players will be on hand including one of the state's top shooters Alexia Torres (SA Islanders)

Returnees key to SA Islanders Black season #Hoopfest WNBA Black runner-up

I'll come back to Under The Radar players Alexia Torres and Erin Wimberly later today as I  do combination of both the Hoopfest and CF Invite on those GPR UTR young ladies. What I will say is this team has knocked off some teams many didn't think they were supposed to over the past two seasons and even though I don't care about wins and losses, it makes a good story when the underdog pulls it off, even without sweet Polly Purebread

Wimberly, Torres, Belle Tovar and Analissa Narro have all suffered some type of injury but the return of Tovar and Narro was especially good to see after knee injuries. Both are explosive and can shoot mid to long range but this is a team of talented smart guards that play the passing lanes and can shoot the lights out and when multiple players are on, they can play with anybody in the state, I'm not exaggerating or just leaving happy hour, it's real. Victoria Pena can light it up, I'm extra pleased at the poise from Tara Molina who has simply elevated her game as well as Alexis Worley who was a nightmare in the paint the past two weekend on both ends

I get requests to watch this and that over and over and over and I try to accommodate if I'm covering an event but one of the biggest, well smartest moves I've made was catching the San Antonio Islanders a few years ago and getting a glimpse of Alexia Torres who is more than a next level player, she's a legitimate D1 player that will do some damage in her high school career

Not only is she smart and under control. the Under The Radar star simply can shoot the lights out and I'm not just typing extra characters to please my editor. I've watched Torres improved in all areas of her game including defense and when you can score like she can and play that passing lane.......

Let me start off by saying that three years ago, one of the smartest moves I've made was doing a "special request" and making sure I caught the SA Islanders. The only thing I like more than guards that can shoot the lights out are smart guards that can shoot the lights out, well I like of things but the story fits since it's about Alexia Torres

This young lady was amazed me in a short period of time and I've seen her continue to add different things to her game as she simply finds ways to score, from 30 feet on in, okay 27 feet but anyway she knows the game and she gets the job done on both ends #MensaBasketball works !!!!

'16 Alexia Torres shows versatility at guard spot

I've put up a lot of videos of SA Islanders gaurd Alexia Torres over the last couple of seasons and one thing those videos showed was her ability to score, off the dribble, going to the basket, hitting the midrange and range some radar can't even detect but one thing I always talk about when I evaluate players is progression and even though she showed me she was one of the states top long ball shooters a couple of years ago, she just keeps getting better and in this video, you can see even more defense and athleticism from the 2016 Under The Radar player along with her court vision and even more ways to score. You can't teach some things and smart guards with all of her other attributes are a plus, awe just enjoy the video from Incarnate Word (San Antonio) junior

2015
Adriaana Jackson- 5'2 guard (Houston Elite)  pound for pound, inch for inch, she's one of the best in the state and simply finds ways to get it done. She's exceptional at creating her shot, quickness and jumping ability play into it, how about double-double , yeah points and rebounds

Pearl Jones-5'11 wing (Louisiana Bayou Angels) strong in the paint on both ends is one way to put it until you see her attack from the perimeter. Good defender and made solid decisions in crunch time for LBA

Kylie Ladd-5'7 guard (Oklahoma Shock 2015 Diaz) Having speed is always a plus, factor in having speed and knowing what to do with it and you can create some problems. Ladd plays the passing lane well and her numerous steals meant easy baskets

Breann Ford-6'0 post (San Antonio Royals) Hard to handle down low, good body and strength and knows the game. Oh yeah, finishes well and showed she can face the basket and score

McKenzie Lunkin-5'11 wing (CTX Heat Black) An abundance of athleticism has me on the verge of labeling it ultra but whatever you wanna call it, she has it. Lunkin simply was everywhere the ball was and was a nightmare to contain

2016

Jade Rochelle-5'10 forward (North Texas Strive Blue) simply took game over during various stretches and overpowered opponents. Handles ball well for size which gives her an additional weapon to score from wing

Lena Wilson- 5'8 guard (SA Finest White) The more I watched Wilson, the more she turned it on and as the tournament progressed, she played like she was on a mission an the outcome possibly put her in a great position with the numerous college coaches watching. Very athletic and simply things happen

Tara Molina- 5'2 guard (San Antonio Islanders Black) With their top two scorers not available, Annabelle Tovar and Alexia Torres, Tara Molina knew what she had to do. I've seen glimpses of her scoring but she simply went off from everywhere, including a few from another time zone

Ashley Hayes-5'5 guard (FM Lady Thunder) Hayes blew me away when I saw her for the first time last season and she still does. The prototype point guard that's smart, understands the game and makes good decisions, especially in crunch

2017

Ryanne Johnson-6'0 post (Texas Adidas Elite Franey) Johnson isn't flashy, she just gets it done. She's a double-double waiting to happen and her strength is through the roof. The killing part is she hasn't touched her potential

Islanders threats keep coming #ACRC

With the absence of "bigs", good guard play can create some problems and the SA Islanders have been somewhat of a throwback team for me to watch, especially after losing their post Erin Wimberly. The good news is that Wimberly is back, well good for them, bad for opponents, as she is definitely a force inside but they have forces from everywhere and I'll start outside. Annabelle Tovar and Alexia Torres are gifted scorers that can simply shoot from different time zones, I've talked about their BB-IQ being among the best period and I love watching guards that simply get after it

Well they aren't the only ones as Tara Molina can light it up as well and when you have a trio of long ball threats that simply know the game and can play, well......  Look,  on Sunday, that trio took the day off, no problem, how about Lunden Patterson drop three in one game or 2019 Ashley Adaszczyk going 6 for 9 in the same game. Hey, I'm serious so if ever you had a bomb squad, this is definitely one of them. Briana Soliz can get it done on both ends and still finds ways to be spectacular at times

Cindy Si is long and explosive and watching her in the open court always has me on the edge of my seat but when you have firepower of this magnitude, once the Islanders get going, it's definitely not a vacation. April Matthews simply explodes off the ground and has given me several highlight moments and the same can be said for Arianna Carver who at times can be unstoppable. This is an exciting team that has pulled off some huge wins over the past two seasons and the show ain't over

Islanders Torres continues tearing it up at camps #AlamoCityRoundballClassic

You have shooters and then you have players that can simply put on shooting exhibitions but lets roll that even more as I'm leaning to place Alexia Torres in the scorers category simply because she finds ways to put the ball in the basket. Yeah that three point shot and being wherever the ball was on defense caught my eye but the more I watched her, that basketball IQ is compatible to a 2400 on the SAT, how about that analogy

I'll see the 2016 Under The Radar star yet again and after watching her shoot the lights out at the Texas, HBU and Rice camps over the past three weeks..........

Bay Area squad continues to Blaze winning #PrimeTime 9/10 Grade Division

It's awesome for me to watch things develop right before my eyes,  equate this to my first Polaroid when I was around five or six but that old saying seeing is believing definitely fits. The Bay Area Blaze seem to be placing in every event I'm watching them play and the thing that I'm seeing is that they're getting better every time I catch them in action

 Hannah Froeschl simply continues to amaze me and she's one of the top freshmen in the state you may not know about however before it's over, just keep reading my stuff because you'll see it too. The loss of  her Clear Cree HS teammate Alex Simmons due to a knee injury had me wondering how the team would do afterwards however it seems they've come together quicker than I expected

Much of that has to do with continuing improvement of Madison Nicholas and Ariel Wolfe, both capable of running the team and scoring when needed and the thing about the Blaze is that they have plenty of weapons that can score. Also the addition of another Clear Creek player, Caitlyn Burroway has been huge because you can't teach heart and she's a skilled player that battles till no end in the paint

Samone Walker is a highlight waiting to happen, she has great athleticism and can finish all types of ways and like Nicholas and Wolfe, she can handle the ball and she makes plays. Hanna Zajac is yet another Clear Creek player, I did a story on their talented freshmen class earlier and mark my word, the more I see her the more I know they have some weapons and her ability to get to the rim and finish is mid blowing

Alexia Barrett came up huge again in this event, she handled the ball well in traffic, plays the passing lanes and created her own shot well. Her twin sister Valencia, I thought I was seeing double again, like Burroway is undersized but you'd know it because of the effort she puts out in the paint, those young ladies are tough. The Barrett sisters and Walker attend Dickinson so this group from the Clear Lake are knocking louder on the door each tournament

Under The Radar "Tip Sheet" #MemorialWeekendShowcase

I had a chance to see several Girlz Prep Report "Under The Radar" players in action over the weekend and to say they all did well would be an understatement. "It's not what you do, it's who you do it against" and equally as important "It's also who you do it in front of" and one more time, I talking about me

2015

Brooke Jolivette (Cy Fair Jolivette) Don't get shook by Brooke is something I love to type and she's doing it with regularity. Her size makes her an and one waiting to happen but that midrange was click as well as the long range as she simply made things happen

Charlotte Hodges (Cy Fair Jolivette) Simply a premium player for the next level because she's right at the magic number, that's six feet, and she can not only score consistently in the paint, she can stretch the defense with her range. Hodges just won't quit and as a bonus she rebounded well on both ends

2016

Alexia Torres (San Antonio Islanders)- Torres is a smart and gifted guard that simply can shoot the lights out but her basketball IQ is what continues to blow me away. She gets to whatever spot she wants on offense, sees the floor well and can either take defenders off the dribble or launch it from , well San Antonio

Maci Forsythe (Lady Big Dogs) There's no surprise that Forsythe is leading her team in three point accuracy but the main thing I like from what I'm seeing is her aggressiveness on both ends. She's a good ball handler that knows the game and the added intensity I'm seeing will be huge for the next level

Anytime I get to see the GPR UTR players in action, they already know I'm looking for progression and this weekend, the Insiders Basketball Classic gave me a chance to see just that

2015

Katie Burke (MC Legends)-  Burke was solid, both on offense and defense as she helped lead her team to WNBA Black title. Burke's ability to control the tempo was key as she set up teammates for point blank shots and she added some offense of her own when needed

2016

Brittany Panetti (Katy Rebels-Goss) At 6'2, she's going to school no matter what, that's a done deal and with her skill set, she was already a D1 player before being on the list. What she continues to do is move into mid to BCS category as she sometimes scored effortlessly

Rachel Tapps (Cy Fair Nike Elite-Walker) Tapps is one of the strongest and most athletic guards in her class, she can jump out of the gym and defend so well that I consider one of the top defensive guards in the state. She's attacking the basket better which add to her artillery

Alexia Torres (SA Islander) Torres is simply a gamer, she's smart and smooth and more importantly, has a stroke. I knew she could light defenders up from another zip code but what she continues to show is she gets defenders off balance for easy baskets, with flair many of those times

2017

Marissa Banfield ( Golden Triangle Elite)- Banfield is a prototypical point guard that can score when needed and by that I mean she's a pass first point that understands defenses and always looks to get her team the best opportunity. She's smooth as silk, maybe smoother

Jade Leblanc-Ernest (Pearland Hawks) I've seen Jade a lot over the past season and she's improved a lot and with her IQ and work ethic, well just look at the video and we'll revisit what I think later

2018

Mikayla Schenck (MC Legends) Schenck is turning into a double double waiting to happen and with her improved  ball handling and ability to see the floor, I envision writing she's a triple double waiting to happen. She's long and the light bulb has went off, she can create off the dribble and she wants "it"

Tia Tolbert (Sports Prep)- The respect I had for Tolbert's game reached new heights after this weekend as I saw this young lady perform in pain. That's not an easy task, trust me I won't write with a paper cut, but Tolbert went right, left or any other way as she cut to the basket for scores. More impressively she saw the floor extremely well as she made some huge assists
