To Commit Or Not To Commit-Early That Is

Recee Caldwell has decided to reopen the recruiting process after giving the nod to Baylor a few months ago. This is great news for several colleges including Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma according to Hoopgurlz however it raises several questions on when players should be allowed to commit. The simple fact of the matter is every situation is different and even though you read articles about what this player did or that player did, the majority of players are lucky to receive a handful of offers by the time they enter their senior year, let alone be able to go just about anywhere they want as a freshman or even younger

Odyssey Sims shocked quite a few people when she decided Baylor was where she wanted to attend as a sophomore and shocked even more when she also withdrew her commitment, even though she ended up being a Bear when it was all said and done

Kelsey Bone on the other hand chose to wait until her senior year to decide and by senior year, I mean in as in April, during the regular signing period and not during the early period in November. Being 6'4 and the #1 or #2 player in the country, she could pull that off without having a lot of schools take their offers off the table and also keep it on the table had she suffered an injury. There are only a handful of players each season that could do that, just as there are only a few players that have the opportunity to commit at very early stages in their careers.
