'18 Mikayla Schenck giving me flashbacks #GPRUnderTheRadar

I had been watching Madison Schenck since I guess the 7th grade and immediately was drawn to her mindset and work ethic and if you read what I've written on what she has become as well as the damage she'll do at St Edwards, well more on that later, this is about her sister Mikayla. I also caught her in the 7th grade and almost immediately I knew I was seeing something special developing because she pulled up on the break and dropped a 25 footer and then on the next possession dropped another with a defender hanging on her and I'm talking catch and shoot

Over the years, her propensity of being able to put the ball in the basket multiple ways has only been overshadowed by her "highlight waiting to happen" acrobatic shots which includes hang time college coaches as this young lady just keeps showing me a variety of different things. Based on the early buzz as a glance at my phone, several college coaches are definitely seeing what I'm seeing as she had a very good showing at Big State Flava Jam for Houston Dream Elite as they head to Chicago next

The long ball is falling and Schenck is doing damage off the dribble as well and remeber she is one of the top 2018 players in the state of Texas

I've written about tons of players over the years, some not so bright remarks have come my way about "my favorite player this or that" and I have to reassure people that I only have one favorite player and that's the one in the picture with the president.

Madison Schenck definitely has a special place in my heart and it's not just because she's a talented basketball player that has expanded her game from the first time I saw her in the 8th grade where she was primarily a post player but simply because she's a good person that actually cares about others

Her recent signing with St Edwards wasn't a spur of the moment deal, she was toying with idea of playing D1 ball but after weighing all of her options, size of the campus, ability to go in and play immediately, the warmth she felt on her visit all played a part however she's also looking long term and ranking of the school academically definitely played a huge part as well

She closed out her final Space City Jam with a bang, 30 points and 28 rebounds and her points came from long and midrange, put backs or simply taking players off the dribble was no surprise to me and after watching her work on her weaknesses all of these years, I assured her no if ands or butts, she definitely has D1 talent and she will excel at the next level

Madison and Mikayla Schenck may be holding a piece of ice but trust me, it didn't long for it to melt because the talented sisters have been on fire all season. Madison recently committed to St Edwards and Mikayla, one of the states top sophomores will be representing defending Space City Jam champions SATCH this weekend but today, they go against a high powered offensive Episcopal squad featuring Houston signee Quatera Limbrick as well as another of the states top sophs, Kansas Watts

UNSIGNED Schenck opens up #AggielandInvitational with a bang

Madison Schenck fits into the mode of player that I associate with my all time original quote, "it's not what you do, it's who you do it against" and the 6'0 forward has been on a tear all season scoring in a game last week while opening up the Aggieland Invitational with a 28 point 28 rebound performance  in the opening round followed by a 31/21 performance in the second game. Keep in mind not only is she scoring and rebounding, she's averaging close to 5 assists per game and all of this from a player that was only a back to the basket player when I first saw her in the 8th grade to now one that can handle the ball i the open court "under pressure" who can also shoot the mid and long range consistently

I can't say I knew Madison Schenck would be a star at 10 years old probably because I didn't see her for the first time until she was in the 8th grade but what I saw was a fierce inside player that battled taller players for everything and simply would back down or give up. Fast forward to now, the senior has grown both on the court ,where she can score from mid to long range and handle the ball in the open court  under pressure, as well as off the court as she stands at magic number of six feet

Last weekend, she continued her torrid scoring pace at the Central Heights Holiday Hoopfest averaging over 20 ppg and probably a double double helping lead her SATCH squad to runner-up in the tournament where she was named to the All Tournament Team. Then on Tuesday, she dropped 25 in their win over Madisonville and she'll be more than ready for next month's Space City Jam. Schenck is legit, no one works harder and I'm still amazed at the transformation on how she's continued to evolve as a player

Cy Springs closing gap in win over SATCH #GirlsTXJamboree

The good news is that this is one of the best Cy Springs teams I've seen in a very long time,the bad news is they play in the absolute toughest district in the area however they are capable of pulling off some key upsets in their quest for the playoffs. SATCH on the other hand is still very competitive after Anna McCleod has moved on plus they have some new additions to their squad which never quit as they fought to the very end in their 56-48 loss to the Panthers

Speaking of new additions, 6'4 Carma Nicola is a senior that has her best basketball ahead of her however the improvement I see each time she's on the court is just scary on what she could become. Freshmen D' Anna West and  Tiffany Mack, who is is 6'2 are great additions to this senior heavy team and wen you combine them Tia Tolbert and Kierra Flowers, this could be the team to beat in the district in a couple of years. Big game for Toraya Bass who led all scorers with 16, Tolbert added 10 while Tasia Hayes was definitely solid at the one

The Mavericks have added a couple of key players in Victoria Shelton and Anna Jackson, Shelton is explosive off of the dribble, gets to the rim at ease and big ups to Lydia Hulin who was almost everywhere on both ends. SATCH was without Megan Miller who simply adds another element to the talented team and Krystal Jackson is back from an injury and once she's 100% her 73 inches will come in handy. The Schenck sisters, Madison and Mikayla, do so many things that don't appear in the box score however their 15 and 14 points respectively gives you an idea

Although the weather was ugly outside, the talent made up for it inside at Westbury Christian High School where the Girls Texas Jamboree was held. I'll break down each of the five games, I saw enough of Bellaire in the fifth game to know that right now they're the best team in HISD and when they get back to full strength, add them to the list of legitimate contenders to represent R3 6A

Madison Schenck (SATCH) at six feet, she simply does so many things well on both the offensive and defensive ends of the court. She makes smart decisions, can handle the ball under pressure in the open court and can hit the mid and long range with ease. The UNSIGNED senior is a steal, this young lady keeps adding to her game and won't quit on you

Marissa Banfield 

2017

Marissa Banfield (Westbury Christian) Loved her game when she was 10 playing a couple of years up, I knew what was going to happen and as usual I'm correct. The main job of a point guard is to make her teammates better, run the offense and not make bad decisions, well she can do all of that plus take a game over when needed

Tia Tolbert

2018

Tia Tolbert (Cy Springs) Tolbert's aggressiveness on both ends keeps getting better, I saw that begin to improve over the summer however I'm loving her ability to create off the dribble and finish strong taking contact. Mid and long range, check and double check. Perimeter defense has gotten better, in fact she loves playing it

Mikayla Schenck (SATCH) Watching this young lady in the open court is blowing me away, well that and her NBA range but what I like even more about what she's improving on, no it's playing the passing lanes, it's her ability to set defenders up to take them off the dribble and with her length and ability to catch and shoot......

Jordan Ott (Lake Travis) One of my favorite players to see before I actually saw her live. I caught a glimpse of Ott in a video and I was scratching my head and over the past two seasons, she's gone from just being good to really good and on the verge of taking it even further. Great size, she knows how to score and when to score and creates match-up problems galore

2016 Madison Schenck has started of the season on a tear with SATCH and I expected nothing less. The 6'0 star has been a player I observed since she was in the 8th grade wen she was only a back to the basket player however hard work and determination has not only elevated her game to where she can handle the ball in the open court, under pressure, as well as nail the mid and long range with ease and rebound on both ends while play defense, inside or on the perimeter.

I would hate to be a college coach simply because I didn't like dealing with a lot of nonsense and with some of the emails floating from parents, club coaches, trainers on their "player" being "the best" at whatever position they play or they're better than this player that was Tweeted about who received an offer from ABC school simply is mind boggling to me

Then there are those who talk about their "connections" well I don't have connections, I have contacts because a connection, to me, means I can call a school and say "put this girl on your team" and they will, now that's a CONNECTION and I doubt seriously if that's happening but with the internet and the ability to use it, everyone has contact information or can get it on just about every college in the country

What separates me from the novice is that I actually get out and see tons of talented players, I know where the talent level was before the turn of the century and I'm able to give an HONEST evaluation on what I see, plus I have a daughter than won a National Championship and plays in the WNBA but it's more of the former than the latter on why I will always keep it real with no BS to go along with it

Madison Schenck is a D1 player, no doubt about that as well as many of the others on my 2016 Under The Radar group but the main thing is that all can play somewhere so I'll bring that you late today or early tomorrow

I'm playing everything back into my head when I first saw Madison Schenck simply outworking older players in the paint for rebounds. She was in the 8th grade and although she wasn't six feet yet, I knew she would be able to play at the next level simply on her desire and if she reached the magic number, that would be gravy, and that evaluation was based on her primarily creating problems in the paint.

One thing I didn't know was how hard of a worker this young lady was and the next season I'm watching her start the year off dropping 15 footers with ease and closing the club season out dropping threes. The next season, she's handling the ball, under pressure not against cones, coast to coast, you see the cones just stand there and don't move which is why I through that in but on top of everything she has improved on, her perimeter defense sold me on her playing multiple positions in college and I'm talking D1

2015 HBU Camp Tip Sheet part one

HOUSTON, Texas- Round 2 of my area camp watch went as expected, plenty of talent as well as some surprises. HBU commits Rexesha Hollis and Belle Tovar were in attendance, Hollis the long and athletic wing that just finds ways to score while Tovar is one of the top long range shooters in the state and showed no signs of a knee injury she suffered a few months ago. Hannah Moya was definitely a surprise, big things come in small packages and Falyn Taylor, Annalise Narro and Lauren O'Connell continue to impress me with their range. Another bright spot was Aaliyah Davis whose athleticism is through the roof but she's added a pull-up to her arsenal as well plus the improvement from Haley Johnson definitely tells me she's been working on her midrange as well as Kayla Alvarado.  Here is my Tip Sheet

Kennedi Burks- I guess the word I'm looking for is relentless since she goes after everything off the glass and can score. Super athleticism, defends under basket or on perimeter and knows how to put ball in basket multiple ways

Victoria Miller-her physicality got me going early and she set one pick that I felt 25 feet away. Loves to bang in paint and can face basket for buckets

Hayley Washington-played strong on both ends of the court, made good decisions and showed she had a variety of ways to score

Taylor Koll Morgan- wingspan enables her to do a lot of different things on both ends, she changed or deflected shots numerous times, rebounded well and scored inside and outside

Madison Schenck-definitely showed she could play multiple positions, was draining the long ball early then mixed mid and off the dribble in as well as put-backs. Strong body but 30 foot bounce pass through traffic just blew me away

Maddie Miller- add Thriller somewhere in her name because she doesn't mind giving or receiving punishment yet can take it while putting ball in basket. Defended and rebounded strong

Brooke Biggot-poised under pressure, made good decisions and showed she has the tools to run a team at the next level

Mikayla Schenck- she's long and athletic and can get wherever she wants whenever she wants at a young age. HUGE upside and when the three is clicking, well she's very hard to handle

Rori Harmon- told her I'll be writing "Please don't squeeze the Harmon" and of course she didn't know what I was talking about yet I know this "she's in the class of 2021 and she's one of the top players in that class in the country" A couple of step back threes and some D1 passes with the older girls showed everyone what I said 2 years ago

SATCH wins THSBBC title

SATCH Lady Mavericks (34-8) had a grueling season this year, playing some of the top teams in Texas. Last weekend, the team defeated the Lubbock Titans 58-48 to take the state championship title at the THSBBC, Texas Homeschool State Basketball Championships. In the end, junior Anna McLeod put in 18 points with 7 rebounds, junior Madison Schenck added 12 points with 9 rebounds, and freshmen Mikayla Schenck hit 3 threes with 2 free-throws to contribute 11 points to the team's win. All-tournament selections from the team were Anna McLeod, who averaged 22 points for the tourney, Madison Schenck, who averaged 12 points and 15 rebounds for the tourney, and Lydia Hulin. Freshmen Mikayla Schenck averaged 12 points for the tournament as well.

GPR Under The Radar stars at #TXEEVAL were #AutoAwesome

'16 Katie Owen showing that stroke as #AutoAwesome captured her performance but the GPR Under The Radar star wasn't the only player putting in work at the camp. I don't know the exact count but I know there were a lot of players so I'm guessing at least 75 in the two sessions. Owen sent a message loud  and clear that her most important summer will be one that needs to be reckoned with. '16 Madison and '18 Mikayla Schenck, a couple of D1 locks that happen to be GPR Under The Radar stars as well, were also in attendance for the skills session however they didn't compete in the scrimmages because they are preparing for the Homeschool State Tournament

Madison, like Owen, is ready to go out with a bang while Mikayla has solidified her spot as one of the states top freshman. I'll have a couple of Tip Sheets and if you don't follow me on Twitter, oh well, you're going to miss some other interesting stuff

Truong twins on hand for "The Camp" Saturday at Mi-3

Although I may feel like I should have been in MI6, well maybe not, I'll be at the new facility I've been hearing about this weekend and with tons of talented players on hand, the list just keeps growing to I think close to one hundred. How bout them twins, Kayleigh and Kaylynne Truong, I just talked about seeing D'Asia Collins at 10 so they had to be 9 when I first saw them and as they get ready to explode in HS next year, keep in mind I'll be saying "I told you so" while others play ketchup, yeah put it on fires

SATCH defeats CHSA for Space City Jam Championship

I sort of knew how this would play out, SATCH with their offensive nightmare of D1 locks Anna McCleod, Madison Schenck and Mikayla Schenk, simply were on fire from start of the championship game as Megan Miller and Lydia Hulin filled in the blanks. The D1 threesome came out on fire, within the first couple of minutes each had dropped a three and it sort of set the stage for the game. CHSA has some talented players of their own, Reagan Merkle and Krysta Quinones showed me the day before they could knock down the long one while Jessica Mueller put in work in the paint on both ends. I was impressed with Kandace Bradshaw, super athleticism that showed she could score and defend and Jade LeBlanc-Earnest definitely showed she was back as her baseline to baseline defense created issues all tournament

I'll do a 3rd place varsity wrap and a day 2 look plus the All Tournament Teams coming up

'16 Schenck getting it done for SATCH #UnderTheRadar

SATCH is on the road to play Concordia Lutheran tomorrow however the homeschool team has no problem and have been traveling all over the place all season compiling a very impressive 26-5 record which includes wins over some of the top Private, 5A and 6A squads from not only the area but across the state. Much of that has to do with the magic Madison Schenck continues to display on the floor as she's a double-double waiting to happen but she always showed that was something that was going to be happening as I first saw her doing damage in the paint three years ago

What has overly impressed me is her ability to face the basket and score as well as handling the ball and defending on the perimeter and as the offers continue to come in for the young lady who's right around that magic number, more are on the horizon especially since a steady flow of college coaches always show up at the Space City Jam at the end of the month where her SATCH squad will be one off the favorites to win it

Super game at Sharp to start the year

Northwestern State was in town to face Houston Baptist and although the Huskies came up short, I continue to see progression and watching both teams has me even more excited about the Southland Conference Tournament in March. In the early going it was a shootout between HBU's TJ Jefferson and Northwestern State's Janelle Perez as both were unconscious dropping three's from everywhere. Former Houston area stars Jefferson (North Shore), Anna Strickland (The Woodlands) and Rachel Arthur (Atascocita) accounted for the first 10 Huskies points but the big news was Monet Neal coming off the bench to score 15 in the first half and finish with 28 plus she added 18 rebounds

 Keisha Lee scored on a variety of ways in the second half as she scored all 11 of her points but the long ball shooting from Chelsea Lee (5) and Perez (4) just helped push the Lady Demons over the top. Several local high school stars were in attendance including the Schenck sisters, Mikayla and Madison from SATCH, Marissa Bailey (Westbury Christian) Alexis Johnson (Kincaid) and Haley Johnson (George Ranch) as well as Northwestern State signee Brynae Thompson ( Cy Fair). Even though the Huskies came up short, they're playing some exciting ball and parents and players, I keep stressing you need to check out college action but what do I know :)

Rivera's addition huge for SATCH #conocophillipsclassic

SATCH now has something a lot of teams wish they could say and that's two off the states top freshmen on their squads. Cydney Rivera recently transferred from Cy Ranch however her explosiveness has already added another element to the talented Lady Warriors team. Long ball threat Anna McCleod is one of, well has always been one of the top scorers in the state while Madison Schenck blue collar mentality coupled with finesse when needed were already providing over 30 ppg between the junior duo. Add in freshman Mikayla Schenck who continues to take her game to another level plus sophomore Megan Miller and this team is pretty dangerous when their rolling at full strength. I'll catch them again at the Space City Jam next month

Next 8 for KISD Tournament

Bryn Gerlich, one of the states top freshmen, is one of the Colleyville Heritage players I've watched numerous times and they open up against SATCH, with three players I've seen a whole lot of. Anna McCleod, one of the top long range scorers in the universe along with Mikayla and Madison Schenck are the Big Three. Mikayla, like Gerlich, is a freshman you'll be hearing a lot of and the winner of this  game more than likely will face Spring featuring Bernesha Peters and Brittany Smith, aka The Killer B's. In the bottom half of the pod, Channelview should wind up playing Seven Lakes who is probably the favorite for Saturday's semi's at the Merrell Center
