SATCH on the ATTACK

If SATCH is healthy, they can compete with almost anybody in the area and a couple of the reasons are Anna McCleod and Madison Schenck who have been battling injuries all season. McCleod, who blew completely over the summer and has BCS interest, is a 6’0 sharpshooter with unlimited range. Schenck's versatility has legitimized her status as a D1 player, she too had a tremendous summer and had to carry much of the offensive load while McCleod out, she’s also a double-double waiting to happen.

January 30-February 1^st, they will be among several outstanding players I’ll be writing about at this seasons Space City Jam Tournament which will feature some of the top home-school teams throughout and outside of Texas. Last season I felt the IMPACT and this season I see the MOMENTUM is carrying on so I’m ready to get started right now but before we fast forward, check this out on what SATCH has done lately

 They won their second tournament today over the holidays (Willis Taco Bell Holiday Classic last week and The Rock Holiday Classic this week) Schenck was tournament MVP while McCleod was an All-Tournament selection. Madison had 26 points and 8 rebounds in the championship game today against Lutheran South and Anna had 15 points and 10 rebounds.  Madison’s younger sister, Mikayla had 18 points and 8 rebounds in the semi-championship game earlier against The Village School. The younger Schenck is part of; you guessed it, that 2017 MONSTER CLASS!!!!!!

SATCH wins THSBBC title

SATCH Lady Mavericks (34-8) had a grueling season this year, playing some of the top teams in Texas. Last weekend, the team defeated the Lubbock Titans 58-48 to take the state championship title at the THSBBC, Texas Homeschool State Basketball Championships. In the end, junior Anna McLeod put in 18 points with 7 rebounds, junior Madison Schenck added 12 points with 9 rebounds, and freshmen Mikayla Schenck hit 3 threes with 2 free-throws to contribute 11 points to the team's win. All-tournament selections from the team were Anna McLeod, who averaged 22 points for the tourney, Madison Schenck, who averaged 12 points and 15 rebounds for the tourney, and Lydia Hulin. Freshmen Mikayla Schenck averaged 12 points for the tournament as well.

2016 Madison Schenck has started of the season on a tear with SATCH and I expected nothing less. The 6'0 star has been a player I observed since she was in the 8th grade wen she was only a back to the basket player however hard work and determination has not only elevated her game to where she can handle the ball in the open court, under pressure, as well as nail the mid and long range with ease and rebound on both ends while play defense, inside or on the perimeter.

A wise man once said talent is everywhere and over the weekend, several players helped themselves in front of people whose opinions are more important than mine, college coaches. Just because you aren't the "star" on your high school or club team doesn't equate to you not being able to play at the next level.

No one really knew much about about Manvel's Rangie Bessard, she played along side Brianna Turner and Jordan Hosey, before last summer and she jumped from low D1 to BCS after a few plugs here and there from yours truly and eventually signed with Minnesota.

This is what I do, evaluate talent and again I haven't always been right but I've never been wrong and the young ladies below performed so well over the weekend that I wanted to give them a special S/O

2014

Amber Richard ( Adidas Adipure)- Was really good on Friday in the unsigned senior event but took it to yet another level on Saturday and Sunday as showed she could definitely run a team. Now she's added even more offers as she narrows it down on where she'll be playing

2015

Katie Burke (MC Legends)- Burke relishes at the one and on this team, she actually showed this is her natural position. She thinks the game yet she also showed she could score but her ability to set her teammates up for gimmes was on point

Torrie Thompson ( Pearland Thunder)- Thompson is one of those players that will go through a wall for you and I'm not talking about one made of paper. She's explosive on both ends and can score in droves but what I really like is the fact that her perimeter defense can make things happen

Madison Schenck (Texas Adidas Crazy Quick) -She's almost six feet, can handle the ball in the open court, under pressure and can shoot the mid to long range well is what I've been saying and she did all that over the weekend. She's getting even stronger which is scary for those defending her in the paint

Maciu Forsythe (Lady Big Dogs) -Forsythe's jump over the past season has been one of the best I've seen since doing this and I'm ready to label her "clutch" as she continues to score under pressure. All she needed was confidence to go along with her skills, she has it and it's showing

Brittany Panetti (Katy Rebels Goss)- She was a legitimate D1 player in the 7th grade, she's 6'3 and is making great strides. I think with her youth and work ethic, she can definitely play mid to BCS, no doubt about that. Over the weekend, she was virtually unstoppable when I saw her

Alexia Torres (San Antonio Islanders)- If you're a guard and I list you as a UTR player, believe your basketball IQ is up there and Torres simply keeps amazing me. In a span of just under two minutes, I watched her drop two long ones, get a couple of steals and assists and to top it off hit a backwards reverse lay-up off balance MATRIX style

2017

Bianca Hernandez ( San Antonio Stars)- Her three point shooting impressed me last year, her midrange and attacking the basket earlier this year but her perimeter defense just keeps getting better. Hernandez is young, energetic and has a great work ethic and it's showing

Jade Leblanc-Ernest (Pearland Hawks) -I always said once she understood that she was able to compete, she would expand her game. Now the aggressiveness on both ends is showing, skill set was already there but she's on track for big things.

Marissa Banfield (GTE Elite) -I said she was D1 player when she was 10, some don't agree with me calling it that early, I'll listen when the calls aren't answered and Banfield's phone will be ringing off the hook. You can't teach some things, you just can't and this young lady is worth double digit points without scoring, yet she can simply take over a game if needed

 One thing about me is that it doesn't take a long time to recognize talent along with potential and combining that to determine if a player has the ability to play at the next level is something I do quite well, again not bragging but just keeping it real. Madison Schenck is keeping it real also and as the season is about to begin for her homeschool team SATCH, she created a lot of buzz over the summer with her Legends club team. She's around the magic number, six feet, and she expanded her game quite a bit over the past season. Good hands and footwork is what initially caught my eye but handling the ball the length of the floor, nailing the mid and long range consistently is what's doing it now

Progression, progression, progression is what I always look for in players and when you're a player that's been "Under The Radar" , hard work shows how you can catch and pass many who were in front of you. Madison Schenck has elevated her status among the states top 2016 prospects and at a shade under six feet, aka "the magic number" for the next level, her improved ball handling and long ball shooting has college coaches buzzing. Mikayla is on the rise, I haven't had a chance to see her this season but I saw enough during the club season to know that once the dust settles, her spot among the top 2017 players will be solidified, have I mentioned that is a "Monster Class"

Nevertheless, many questions will be answered and a few stories will be told, true stories that is, as the Space City Jam kicks off Thursday

2016 Class Shaping Up To Be Solid

I've mentioned several young ladies numerous times that I felt were going to step right in next season as freshmen and be difference makers so I'm expanding the list to name some others. Although I haven't seen Madison Schenck in person, I've seen enough footage to well, like what I've seen and for me, seeing is believing. Only an inch shy of that coveted magic number of 6'0, this young lady has some of the best post skills I've seen from the posts in the 2016 class. What probably impressed me more than anything was her ability to pass the ball which will make her even more dangerous as she progresses. Is she still raw in certain areas? Yes, but so is everyone else but you can add next level to her right now. Although the weather was ugly outside, the talent made up for it inside at Westbury Christian High School where the Girls Texas Jamboree was held. I'll break down each of the five games, I saw enough of Bellaire in the fifth game to know that right now they're the best team in HISD and when they get back to full strength, add them to the list of legitimate contenders to represent R3 6A

Madison Schenck (SATCH) at six feet, she simply does so many things well on both the offensive and defensive ends of the court. She makes smart decisions, can handle the ball under pressure in the open court and can hit the mid and long range with ease. The UNSIGNED senior is a steal, this young lady keeps adding to her game and won't quit on you

Marissa Banfield 

2017

Marissa Banfield (Westbury Christian) Loved her game when she was 10 playing a couple of years up, I knew what was going to happen and as usual I'm correct. The main job of a point guard is to make her teammates better, run the offense and not make bad decisions, well she can do all of that plus take a game over when needed

Tia Tolbert

2018

Tia Tolbert (Cy Springs) Tolbert's aggressiveness on both ends keeps getting better, I saw that begin to improve over the summer however I'm loving her ability to create off the dribble and finish strong taking contact. Mid and long range, check and double check. Perimeter defense has gotten better, in fact she loves playing it

Mikayla Schenck (SATCH) Watching this young lady in the open court is blowing me away, well that and her NBA range but what I like even more about what she's improving on, no it's playing the passing lanes, it's her ability to set defenders up to take them off the dribble and with her length and ability to catch and shoot......

Jordan Ott (Lake Travis) One of my favorite players to see before I actually saw her live. I caught a glimpse of Ott in a video and I was scratching my head and over the past two seasons, she's gone from just being good to really good and on the verge of taking it even further. Great size, she knows how to score and when to score and creates match-up problems galore

'18 Schenk rolling into Heart Of Texas

Mikayla Schenck has seen talented players galore already and she's yet to play her first high school game, wait, she's yet to enter the 9th grade as this talented young star from the 2018 class has made several appearances with SATCH joining older sister, 2016 Madison Schenck, who has a lot of buzz going among college coaches

Mikayla, like Madison, is hovering around that magic number of six feet and with a longer wingspan and tremendous upside, Mikayla will also be heavily recruited like her older sister. The younger Schenck suits up for MC Legends and I'll run into her this weekend at the HOT and although I have her listed as Under The Radar, trust me you'll know who she is real soon

'16 Schenck at HOT with Crazy Quick

Quicker than I can say loaded, this 2016 class has talented players bursting out all over the place and although Madison Schenck is listed on my Under The Radar list, her ability to score from just anywhere is not what has impressed me most about the young lady that stands right around six feet, it's her perimeter defense and ability to handle the ball in the open court pressure.

Sure she can still bang in the paint if needed as well as step out and drop a long one but her work ethic is evident because she has definitely improved across the board from where she was a couple of years ago and this talented sophomore is about to blow up

With over 2500 player at the Heart of Texas next weekend, Schenck is definitely on my list of players I need to catch

I can't say I knew Madison Schenck would be a star at 10 years old probably because I didn't see her for the first time until she was in the 8th grade but what I saw was a fierce inside player that battled taller players for everything and simply would back down or give up. Fast forward to now, the senior has grown both on the court ,where she can score from mid to long range and handle the ball in the open court  under pressure, as well as off the court as she stands at magic number of six feet

Last weekend, she continued her torrid scoring pace at the Central Heights Holiday Hoopfest averaging over 20 ppg and probably a double double helping lead her SATCH squad to runner-up in the tournament where she was named to the All Tournament Team. Then on Tuesday, she dropped 25 in their win over Madisonville and she'll be more than ready for next month's Space City Jam. Schenck is legit, no one works harder and I'm still amazed at the transformation on how she's continued to evolve as a player

All I can say is watch the form as Madison Schenck made a considerable jump during her freshman season and her growth hasn't peaked as she's showing by the time it's over, she'll be able to play at the next level facing the basket just in case she doesn't reach the magic number. Schenck was one of many bright stars on MC Legends as they brought three teams to the Insiders Basketball Classic

Several other players stood out on MC Legends Tran including Amber Terry who got to the rim whenever she wanted and showed she could hit the long one as well while Kelsey Scibek made things happen on both ends of the floor constantly as she put up numbers throughout the event

2015 UTR Schenck ready to roll

Madison Schenck started the season off with a tear averaging a double-double of 17 pts, 13 reb, not to mention having a double-double in each game. Those numbers were one of the key reasons the Under The Radar player helped lead SATCH to winning the St. Thomas Tournament while coming in second in the Splendora. Schenck has been battling an ankle injury but she'll be back in action this week

I had been watching Madison Schenck since I guess the 7th grade and immediately was drawn to her mindset and work ethic and if you read what I've written on what she has become as well as the damage she'll do at St Edwards, well more on that later, this is about her sister Mikayla. I also caught her in the 7th grade and almost immediately I knew I was seeing something special developing because she pulled up on the break and dropped a 25 footer and then on the next possession dropped another with a defender hanging on her and I'm talking catch and shoot

Over the years, her propensity of being able to put the ball in the basket multiple ways has only been overshadowed by her "highlight waiting to happen" acrobatic shots which includes hang time college coaches as this young lady just keeps showing me a variety of different things. Based on the early buzz as a glance at my phone, several college coaches are definitely seeing what I'm seeing as she had a very good showing at Big State Flava Jam for Houston Dream Elite as they head to Chicago next

The difference between and some people as there is no need for a grapevine because I put my stuff in print and as I told you a couple of years ago about what I saw coming from Madison Schenck has played out like a great western as she gets ready to ride off into the sunset a winner, well sort of. Schenck still has some time but the time she's put into her game off the court has me somewhat speechless as she's evolved from being almost six feet and a back to the basket player to someone who can not only ignite the break but run it herself or just drop a 25 footer for fun. After a big season with Texas Adidas Elite, her mailbox has been full and I'll catch her soon with SATCH

Although I may feel like I should have been in MI6, well maybe not, I'll be at the new facility I've been hearing about this weekend and with tons of talented players on hand, the list just keeps growing to I think close to one hundred. How bout them twins, Kayleigh and Kaylynne Truong, I just talked about seeing D'Asia Collins at 10 so they had to be 9 when I first saw them and as they get ready to explode in HS next year, keep in mind I'll be saying "I told you so" while others play ketchup, yeah put it on fires

More sisters doing their thing at Space City Jam

Okay I talked about the McCleod tradition yet I didn't realize Madison Schenck has some impressive sisters coming up as well but like any good investigative reporter, digging a little deeper will do wonders. Watching the progression of Madison, wait, that's another story coming later. I didn't get a chance to see a whole lot of the younger sisters but Marie and Mikayla show a lot of potential

The same can be said for the Hulin sisters as far as potential. Susannah caught my eye earlier this season when SATCH played St Pius so I already knew what she was capable of doing and she played huge for the Mavericks. Younger sister Lydia moved up to play with the varsity and handled herself nicely, not forcing anything and handled herself nicely

The younger sisters, Priscilla and Johanna also showed a lot of promise and once again, the younger sisters benefit from being out there with the older sisters more times than not so you'll be hearing about the Hulin's for a long time. I guess the same can be said for the Jackson, McCleod and Schenck family as well and how about GPR capturing a photo with three of the families budding young stars in it

Mikayla and Madison Schenck both made the all tournament squad for their respective teams at the Space City Jam Impact. This was my first look at Mikayla and although I didn't see a lot of her, I saw enough to see the potential is there and her making all tournament speaks for itself. I have watched Madison countless times and she's gone from just being thrown on the block to bang with players that are sometimes four or five inches taller, which tells you a lot, to a player that can handle the ball coast to coast and hit the mid-range jumper consistently, which is going to be helpful just in case she doesn't grow a lot more

She even knocked down a couple of threes late in the game against HSAA which really surprised me because I don't remember her even attempting to shoot the long ball but evidently she's been working

I didn't even realize Mikayla was her sister, I usually write numbers and go back tot he program so I'm thinking, wow, another family of sisters hooping on the floor giving me countless ways to spin stories and from what I've seen so far, I'll be dizzy spinning more from this tournament

Things are just falling in my lap today so how about this one. All I was hearing at the Cy Fair Evaluation Camp was 107, 107 and when I got over to the book, it was Leah Silva and trust me she was 187 on the court, simply going off. The Barbers Hill star has done it many settings and she was one of many sophomores that did a little more than excel as the spreadsheet grows, boy I'm on

I've called Rachel Tapps one of the best defenders in the state, but trust me, she can score and expect a huge summer from this young lady. Hannah Hopkins is back and fully healed and when you're over six feet with skills, plus she's finally smiling for the pics, hey.......

\What about Robin "I'm about to explode" Beck who recently transferred to Manvel and will team with Jordan Hosey next season to make another run. This Robin has been Batgirl, no Batman as she is 6'0 and still hasn't reached how she's going which is Top 100 caliber. Gabby Gregory, saw it in middle school, BCS offers on the table, thanks in advance but I already know I was right, hey this group was solid.

 Madison Schenck and Rexella Hollis, pictured next "Earl The Pearl" have made jumps since I saw them a few weeks ago in different settings, as well  as Sentreal Gregory and OMG, Chantel Ward ain't that little baby running around I remember when Jade Davis was going off at West Columbia, again TRUST ME!

One more time, this 2016 group was solid and here you go. A couple on the list had obligations pop up at the last minute, a couple were injured but I already know what they can do, keep reading and you will too
