'18 Heun giving Canyon Lakes boost #UnderTheRadar

I'd seen bits and pieces of Reagan Heun @reags213 over the past two seasons however those pieces started making the puzzle clearer this past summer and the more I watched,  the more I watched her progression and as the skills and confidence continued to climb, I knew success would come right off the top and she's definitely made an impression in her first season at Canyon Lakes

Heun is scoring close to 15 ppg in district and leading the team in numerous categories including scoring, assists as well as three point baskets and free throw percentage and after glancing at Max Preps, she's also among the district leaders in blocks. Speaking of district, Canyon Lakes is off to a 3-1 start and when you consider they won only two district games the previous two seasons, well is wasn't too soon for the arrival of Heun

'18 #UnderTheRadar Heun captures honor

I figured Reagan Heun would make an impression as a freshman with the Canyon Lake HS team however not only did she do that, she made an impression with the district being named Newcomer of the Year

2018 Reagan Heun makes decision #GPRUnderTheRadar

I’ve said this over and over throughout the years I’ve been covering and evaluating girls’ basketball players and it stands solid time after time, “college coaches love big guards that can shoot the ball “so the first time I saw Reagan Heun in the 8th grade, I definitely knew she had the potential to play at the next level and where she’d land would be based on her progression. Over the years of watching her play, I noticed she always added something and her ability to shoot the ball was never a problem but when her “catching and shooting” with consistency started taking off, as well as her attacking the basket and defense , I knew she would have options galore and that she did so after the past few weeks of narrowing her decision down, she chose North Dakota State University and I asked her why and  she said “the reason I chose NDSU was because the second I stepped onto campus I felt at home. The team and staff are amazing and I can't wait to be a part of this program” Well said by the talented young lady and here are some flashbacks of articles and Tip Sheets she’s made over the years

'18 Reagan Heun continues to blossom as she's ready for July

What;s that I always talk about I'm looking for in players that I evaluate, oh yeah, progression and that's what I continue to see in 2018 Reagan Huen. This young lady continues to make leaps and jumps as she gets stronger and faster along with elevating her skills, well the skills were already there but her desire is to be the best she can be and she knows that putting in the work will give her many options to play in college. Over the past weekend, the SYE Red star had an impressive Alamo City Classic averaging almost 13 ppg in four games which included 8/15 from bta. She didn't miss a free throw in her 14 attempts and this video sort of paints the picture but trust me, that picture is a long way from being dry and she's definitely a name you want to remember Below is a link to what she did in April and below that a video from the Alamo City Classic

Under The Radar Tip Sheet #CyFairFallClassic #TheLastRun

REAGAN HEUN

I had a chance to catch up with some of the Girlz Prep Report Under The Radar players over the past weekend and one thing I have always been about and always will be about is progression and this group definitely continue to show just that

2015

Torrie Thompson -5'8 guard- Clear Lake HS (Pearland Hawks) Thompson is a scoring machine, she's hard on both ends and she showed e another plus as she played on a severely sprained ankle. That doesn't matter, she averaged double digits for the event including a 25 point outburst

Tess Clark-5'10 guard-John Cooper HS (Pearland Hawks) Left hander that can score with either along with her size is one plus while her physicality on both ends is another. Played hard on both ends and made some things happen

2016

Brittany Panetti -6'3 post-Tomkins HS (Pearland Hawks) Panetti's versatility continues to be one of her biggest assets as she not only can score in the paint but stretch the defense by facing the basket and score mid to long range. Can she play the 4, yes she can, no if ands or butts

2017

Marissa Banfield- 5'6 point guard-Westbury Christian HS-Simply a gets the job done player that has an IQ worthy of Basketball Mensa status. She handled the pressure with ease and her ability to see the floor, thread the needle for easy baskets, along with being able to take over offensively, almost made me want to go back and pay

Jade Le-Blanc Ernest-5'7 guard- CHSA (Pearland Hawks)-Leblanc's steady improvement on both ends continue to amaze e and although she too wasn't 100%, you would never know. Played great defense and came up with big baskets during crunch time

KHATLYN GHAVIDEL

2018

Khatlyn Ghavidel-5'7 guard-Boerne Champion HS ( SA Finest Diamond)- I always say you have to be able to do more than shoot the three and Ghavidel continues to elevate her game in other areas. She found ways to not only get to the line but showed more aggressiveness on both ends but her ability to knock the long ones down are already among the top players in the state

Reagan Heun-5'9 guard-New Braunfuels HS (SA Finest Red)- Big guards that can shoot are a hot commodity for the next level yet Huen also has added some muscle to her game and fro what I saw she will be overpowering many guards offensively over the years. She's also showing several intangibles that don't come up in the box score which is always a plus

Out of town players on target #GirlsGotGame

Two of GPR Under The Radar players were on hand for Tyler Relph's Girls Got Game Camp held here in Houston. Reagan Montgomery and Reagan Heun both continue to tune up their skills as they get ready to enter HS. I've seen an awful lot of Montgomery over the past season and she continues to improve in all areas. She's already shown she could score and see the floor but her basketball IQ is ahead of it's time not to mention her work ethic. This was my first really good look at Heun, I've seen glimpses of her with her SA Finest team but there is plenty of upside and watching her go through the skills and drills with ease, believe me they weren't easy, let's me know that you're going to be hearing quite a bit about her over the next few years

Montgomery's Centex Elite teammate Brooke Habeck made the #AutoAwesome reel, well real as well. Good body and capable scorer and rebounder on inside but that midrange game is going to open plenty of doors down the road. The thing I truly enjoyed about the whole group was they listened and when Tyler asked if anyone in the gym was cool raise their hands, once I realized he was talking to kids I knew something was coming and then he uttered, if you are go home because you're here to work

Work is exactly what they did as Kayla Bogan (South Texas Hoyas) and Giana Steward (San Antonio Finest) like Montgomery mad the trip down from San Antonio. Both Bogan and Steward were also captured in #AutoAwesome photos, always remember to use the search bar for players names and they will be among those I'll be having a lot to say about over the next few years. Jessica Esclovon, Jolee Smith and Mollee Priddy play for GTE and traveled down from the Beaumont area. I only caught a glimpse of them at a Prime Time event a few weeks ago but I was impressed  at what I saw during the camp

'18 Reagan Heun ready for new challenges #UnderTheRadar

Reagan Heun impressed me even before she scored a basket at Canyon Lake HS last season as a freshman and one thing I knew about this promising young player was that she had a bright future. After leading her varsity squad in both scoring and assists, while also being 2nd in rebounding, I expected her to have a huge summer and she did as the Under The Radar star created plenty of buzz for herself and since she's only a 2018, bigger things are coming. She'll be doing her thing at New Braunfels Christian Academy this season but check out her highlight film from the summer

'18 Heun smoothly returns #GPRUnderTHeRadar

I love the throwback photos because sometimes players just catch my eye with their mannerisms before they take a shot, Reagan Heun is one of those players. Her name and game preceded her, yeah I heard this and that but after watching her walk into a gym by herself and immediately start working out, by herself before a camp, I said to myself hmmmm

Fast forward to now, she's done an array of good things, impressed college coaches from Southwest to Midwest as well as extend her already long range game but putting it on the floor and scoring with contact as well as that midrange has gone through the roof as she starts of July with Sophia Young Elite Black at Super 64 and Adidas Uprising tournaments

'18 Reagan Heun highlights !!!!!!!!

The floater, taking a lick and scoring going strong to the basket, playing the passing lane, defensive improvement, check, check, check, check and check are some of the  things I knew Reagan Heun would have to add to her game to complete the package. I mean she could always shoot the ball, especially from long range however I tell parents constantly that shooting the 3 doesn't make you a D1 player, well there was never a doubt in my mind that Reagan wouldn't be one from the moment I saw her

She's gotten stronger and more physical on both ends but to top all of that ff, that catch and shoot from 25 feet is definitely a work of art. I'm also impressed with the pull-up off the dribble and step back as it has become even deadlier from bta. The ironic part about it is that she hasn't reached her peak and she's constantly working on her game and even more importantly, her BB-IQ is definitely going to help the talented 2018 player at the next level. She's coming off an 18/7 season and high school and you can catch her with Texas Elite 17U Adidas GATA this club season, more to come but right now, check out the video from her junior year

'18 Heun opens career with bang

GPR Under The Radar Reagan Heun had an impressive debut for Canyon Lakes on Tuesday as she not only played all but two minutes of the entire game at the one, she scored 15 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished out 3 assists. The poised young star is definitely a player I've observed progressing over the past season and this is somewhat of indication on what you can expect and also be hearing more about from me over the next four years

'18 Reagan Heun mixes it up as she gets ready for HS

Once I saw "the look" on Reagan Heun's face, I knew she was going to bring it at the TRB Camp and although I hadn't seen a lot of her during the club season, I saw all I needed to see at the camp.. Now as a bonus, I just caught more of the 2018 Under The Radar's moves and grooves and believe me, she brings a whole to the table. I knew she could rebound and hit the midrange but she has a knack for scoring off the dribble and the floater and crossover only adds to what I saw, keep your ears open on this one

Heun rolling with SA Finest #CyFaitFallClassic schedule posted

I had a chance to get a real good look at 2018 Under The Radar Reagan Heun this past summer and the more I saw, the more I wanted to see. She, along with 2018 Texas commits Shae Routt (Kempner) and Tip Sheet Charli Collier (Barbers Hill) are just some of the younger players I've gone on and on and on about and since they're only freshmen, well I'll be doing it even more but all three will be on hand at the Cy Fair Fall Classic

I will be there all day SUNDAY, the event is at Cy Woods on Saturday and Sunday, here is a link to schedule

SA Finest brings Red , White and (Blue) Diamond to #CYFairClassic

Actually the Finest brought the Red, White and Diamond teams but I was on a roll and even though I' not a gemologist, just a Simologist and like the Blue Diamond, I possess something that is also rare, the ability to spot can't miss players at a young age and Ray Caldwell has had a plenty including his own daughters.

This particular weekend the Finset blew me away with the Red tea and although I was all to familiar with the exciting young talented players like Corina Carter and Reagan Heun, Taylor Green's physicality was definitely a huge bright spot but the brightest of all had to be PG Angel Hastings and I tweeted she's no Angel on the court. Picture a highlight waiting to happen from a #SizeDontMatter guard who has already mastered the floater with either hand, getting to wherever she wants against whoever and can drop it from just about anywhere off the dribble or by taking defenders

Then I had a chance to watch Diamond and although I knew about Toni Cuellar, who has had another growth spurt and Miss Three Point Queen Kaitlyn Ghavidel who can simply put on a show, the progression from Alyssa Adams truly caught my eye and with her athleticism and upside, she's also 5'11, big things are coming her way. Kandyn Faurie as a big surprise as she found ways to score from the wing and in the paint however the biggest surprise was Vanessa Oyola. I already knew she could play and was definitely a next level player put after she hypnotized me with her ball handling and pinpoint passes, you know threading the needle with bullets, the only thing left was for her to show me she could shoot it and she did, and as a bonus she also used that ball handling to get to the rim with ease

6'3 Sara Lewis joined the White and she, 6'2 Nalyssa Smith and 6'1 Makala Mabry formed an impressive front-line. Lewis can bang or go finesse but she knows how to score multiple ways. Smith is turning into a beast, her desire to be better shows each time she steps on the floor but the main thing is she's under control and wants it. I hadn't seen much of Mabry nor 5'10 Maalena Almanza however with their size, they're more than serviceable players who can create issues
