Sydney Coleman speaks!!!!!

This photo is from a couple of season ago however Sydney Coleman has continued to do the things I predicted when she was just a seventh grader

Coleman plays for Cy Ranch, a team that put on a show last season and could have easily been in Austin had Sydney not injured her knee, which is ironic since my SC did the same thing. Coleman is showing no lingering effects and is working hard to help push Cy Ranch to a R3 run next season and even though they lost quite a bit from last season, they have some hungry players ready to step up along with some even hungrier 2017 players ready to prove me wrong about my Cy Woods prediction

I had a chance to speak with the very bright, talented and articulate Coleman and one thing I can tell you, when SC speaks, you need to listen. I'm talking about her this time!

2013 Katy Nike Classic All Tournament

It's always going to be someone making dumb statements, anonymously of course, however  always remember if I don't have the information, what am I supposed to do? With that being said, here's another picture of TCU signee Sydney Coleman because when you help lead your team to the championship in the Katy Nike Classic, named MVP, have my initials and do it on your birthday, well pictures galore are coming. Seriously I love it when players battle back through adversity and Coleman going out with a knee injury last season basically killed any chance Cy Ranch had of representing R3. She's healthy and even though others are down, Rachel Tapps, DiDi Richards and Kara Cezar, all will be back. Also a special s/o to Louisiana Lafayette signee Cienna Rivera for, check this, 11 pts, 7 reb and 11 ast which left her 3 reb shy of a triple double

As far as all tourney, this is what I have

Sydney Coleman Cy Ranch MVP
Cienna Rivera  Cy Ranch
Arianna Whitfield Cy Ranch
Ekiyah Gray Klein Forest
Jeliah Preston Klein Forest

Cy Ranch 2nd Half Too Strong For Jersey Village

This is what I anticipated the moment I heard Sydney Coleman had transferred over to Cy Ranch last season. She would be teaming up with fellow 2014 player Cienna Rodriguez-Rivera, both are two of the top players in their class, that was evident the first time I saw them play in middle school and it didn't take a "GURU" to see that coming

The main problem was Coleman had to sit out, well play JV last season, while CRR blossomed from the varsity experience. Coleman's game seems to be on point after a slow start that saw Cy Ranch playing on both ends of the spectrum in the early season, sometimes looking really good and sometimes not however much of that had to do with Cienna not playing because of nagging injuries and "one mo time", the game starts at the ONE!

This game started off slow and sort of sloppy as Ranch had leads of 15-12 and 23-21 after the first two periods but the third period saw Ranch outscore JV by 14 and that was basically all she wrote. Coleman showed flashes of what she can become on a national level and the good news for Ranch is that she and Rodriguez-Rivera will have two years left together as the district will be up for grabs after this season. This season it belongs to Cy Falls who along with Cy Woods are loaded with seniors doing most of the damage. The interesting thing is Ranch and Woods will probably battle it out next season, ironically Coleman and CRR will be going against Olivia and Ericaa Ogwumike after playing together on the same club team in the past

I have to commend Jersey Village on sticking so close even though their top two scorers Bianca Serna and Brynae Thompson both were plagued by early foul trouble, neither played what was equivalent to a full quarter, and for JV to stay with Cy Ranch without their leading scorers is commendable.

After going scoreless in the first two periods, Thompson caught fire in the second half and scored all 18 of her points and had some fans amazed by the fact that she is only a freshman. I've said it before and I'll say it a gain, once she figures it out she will be hard to handle on the court, that is coming from a "GURU" !

Coleman finished with 20 points for Cy Ranch and Kristen Kech added 10, while CRR had to have close to 10 assists in a game that had her doing what she does very well and that's setting her teammates up for several easy baskets. In addition to Thompson's 18 points, Stephanie Estrada added 10 for Jersey Village who continue to improve since my first peek at the Conroe Tournament. Now a much deserved break for the kids and I'll be coming in live and in living color next week from Mansfield and Duncanville on GPRTV, not really live and in color.

Coleman helps Cy Ranch advance past Eisenhower

Sydney Coleman played like there was no tomorrow and had her Mustangs team lost, that would be the case, well at least for high school. The TCU commit was everything I envisioned after watching her as a 7th grader as her 17 points and probably close to the same amount of rebounds were huge in their 52-39 victory. Eisenhower led 13-8 after one as Shequeria Debose was trying to send her own message because Debose was hurt during last seasons pregame warm-ups featuring these same two teams

I tweeted  Arianna Whitfield had turned a corner and I was talking both literally and figuratively as her improvement and ability to get to the rim from almost any angle was huge. Ranch was down 15-12 with four minutes left in half when she went to work offensively. Rachel Tapps, came in and did what she does and on a cold night the heat was  turned up on defense and by the time the half ended, Coleman had her double-double or was close to it and Ranch had the lead 22-17

In the third quarter Deauzya Richards came in and joined the act, Richards has been out with a bruised rib and hit some big baskets but it was a variety of Mustangs hitting big shots when needed. Whether it was Abby Davis or Madison Keating, someone other than Coleman got into the act but the game still starts at the one and Louisiana Lafayette signee Cienna Rivera was simply masterful at creating for her teammates as well as herself

Ike was without sharpshooter Sonerka White, she's another player capable of going off offensively. Debose led the Eagles with 14 followed by Jonisia Jackson's 10. White has been sidelined for over a month with a knee injury and her ability to stretch the defense was missed. With that being said, Jhavani Thompson't three late in the game cut the Ranch lead to three but Rivera to Coleman for a bucket, then Rivera with a steal and two free throws sealed it. Ranch moves on to play Seven Lakes in the next round

Cy Ranch overpowers Westfield in opening round of #FBISDTournament

Westfield has a lot of fight and are off to a good start however you have a handful of teams, okay maybe two handfuls that have a shot at getting out of here and just like players who go on to play at different levels in college, the same applied with teams and Cy Ranch happens to be among the best of the best in this area and after this tournament, maybe the state. Those high flying young ladies, DiDi Richards and Sydney Coleman, are just off to a tremendous start and what I'm getting from the youngsters, Richards, Rachel Tapps and Arriana Whitfield, who comes in early off the bench is that they all truly think they can get out of here

I'm sure Cienna Rivera believes it, hey after they knocked off San Antonio Johnson is this very tournament last season I thought they had a shot but losing Sydney Coleman simply did it and always say, you can't lose an SC, imagine if I stop doing what I do. I already told yall how this was going to play out, this team, if they stay healthy, is one of around six to eight teams that can and will make a run

Westfield's Precious Cross came up to me and asked did I remember her and I responded "yeah you owe me some money" and trust me, that's going to work one day. After she told me her name, I did remember because as I said in the story, she was virtually unstoppable, read more

With Cross and EJ Bryant putting in the work on the inside and along with several other talented players like sophomore Deja Keys, this game meant absolutely nothing to me, Cy Ranch is just better, the thing I enjoyed was Westfield fought to very end and that's what it's supposed to be about. I'll catch them later. In the battle of the Mustangs, one team ran faster but the main thing is that they both ran until it was over. Top that!

O'Block injury latest for Mustangs

Cy Ranch had been plagued by minor injuries all season long however after losing Sydney Coleman a few weeks ago, add 2014 UTR sharpshooter Ashley O'Block to the list of players who won't be suiting up for the playoffs. Cy Ranch had a legitimate shot at doing some damage in the playoffs, no matter what side of the bracket they were on and although losing Coleman and O'Block is a setback, they are still capable of having a say on who get's out of here

O'Block and Coleman will make full recoveries and have the Mustangs in the hunt again next season, in fact O'Block will be ready for the club ball season where you will have a chance to watch her launch threes from another stratosphere

Tough breaks at the Ranch(es)

Sydney Coleman (Cy Ranch)

Cinco Ranch and Cy Ranch were going to make some noise this season as both would compete not only for district title but in this wide open area, a possible trip to Austin wasn't completely out of the question, especially for Cy Ranch who has been on a tear, winning both the FBISD and SBISD tournaments while being runner-up in the Katy Nike Classic

Taylor Williams (Cinco Ranch)

Cinco's Williams tore hers a few weeks ago and I just found out Coleman just recently tore hers which makes things a little tougher for both teams as far as getting out of here. Williams has already signed with UTSA while Coleman, one of the top prospects in the area for 2014 will land on her feet as well.

SBISD Tournament packing star power as Coleman commits

Sydney Coleman has "the pose" down to a tee and after her weekend commitment to TCU, that's also taken care of as she's another "can't miss" seventh grader I expected big things from. Coleman is one of many stars for Cy Ranch that will be showcasing their talents at the SBISD Tournament next week and the Mustangs are also one of the contenders in R3 that have a shot at making it to Austin

Klein Forest, one of the favorites in area R2, along with last seasons 4A-F4 rep Lamar Consolidated

Cy Ranch vs Seven Lakes #Sweet16 #RoadToAustin

When I see Sydney Coleman and DiDi Richards running down the court for layups on passes from Cienna Rivera, Steve Miller's "Fly Like An Eagle" pops up, I know it's old Google it. Here's the deal, Richards was injured in freak accident but was instrumental in their win over Eisenhower. Rachel Tapps was done for the season, but she ain't DONE and neither are the Mustangs, especially since Arianna Whitfield has blossomed into one of the standout freshmen in the state,. Coleman, a TCU signee, and Rivera, a Louisana Lafayette signee, will be key to how far this team goes

Cydney Varner and Michelle Foakum have created problem all season for the Spartans who have found a way to regroup after graduating Christin Inman and Sydney Buchel from last season. Julia Bannister and Katy Keese are among others capable of going off

Premier 64-Part 3

TKO VS TEXAS INFERNO

INSIDERS 16 BLUE VS TEXAS CROSSOVER

Camille Williams has been steady throughout the season

The Crossover was filled with talented players and also have a talented 2013 team as well

Jessiah Johnson, background, put on an offensive exhibition while Courtney Moore cleaned up the boards

FASTBREAKERS VS FLIGHT

NBA great Tommy Henderson doing his thing for the Fastbreakers

ICHIBAN VS TKO

WESTSIDE ELITE VS TORNADOES

Former Yates and TCU great Carven Holcombe is at the helm for the Tornadoes

TEXAS HEAT-TA

Legendary Longview coach Tommy Aldredge recently retired, however is still teaching and doing his thing

ICHIBAN VS EXPLOSION

Gene Watts is still doing his thing in the Metroplex. One of the finest teachers in the area still showing that same passion I saw 10 years ago.

HBA-Texas Blazers took on The Fury

The Phenoms tried to keep Airborne grounded

Cy Fair Shock-Simmons

The last two Ogumike's are coming along nicely and Sydney Coleman has star written all over her

Abby Lee is a shooting machine. She has had multiple games where she has scored more than 10 three pointers. The young lady on the right is growing up right before my eyes. Blair Shafer's dad Vic is the brains behind Texas A&M's defense and his daughter surprised me a lot. She too has a bright future ahead of her.

Coleman, along with the kid I finally saw, Cienna Rodriguez-Rivera, really were impressive. Cienna is smart, sees the floor extremely well and knows the game.
