Bellaire Rec Fall League-Episcopal

2013 Bria Goodman and Dasia Batiste will team up with seniors Alex Burroughs and Heidi Sihovla as Epicopal hopes to make a run at a state championship. Coming off last seasons 27-7 record, the Knights will look to their junior "Dynamic Duo" for more offensive help and it appears that they are ready for the challenge

Bellaire Rec Fall League-Bellaire

It's hard to believe Regina Harris is now a senior. Harris was among Bellaire's very talented freshmen class that included Bianca Winslow, Raven Burns and Alexis Chandler. Although Chandler moved on, the threesome have one more shot at trying to get out of here. At the Bellaire Rec, Bellaire is getting the kids ready as a mixture of varsity and junior varsity players made up their squad as they had to play back to back games due to a couple of teams that dropped out of the event

Although AJ Alix isn't among those playing in the Bellaire Rec league, she was doing her thing coaching from the sideline. A pleasant surprise for the Cardinals is the growth 2014 Angel Williams has shown over the summer. It seems like every camp or event I attended, Williams was there and you can see the work is paying off.

Kit Metoyer Commits To Ivy League Program

Katherine "Kit:" Metoyer is known for being very smart on and off the court and with her being a valuable piece to Cy Falls run last season, she was one of the key players that kept everything together, she has decided to continue her academic and athletic career at Harvard. One of the areas most gifted three point shooters. "Kit" will again play a major role in how far the Eagles fly this season

Texas Invitational Preview

Last season Cy Falls started off with a bang and finished the season with a very impressive (38-2) record that included not only winning their district, something Cy Fair had dominated during the decade, but also the prestigious Texas Invitational which featured heavy hitters from across the state such as North Crowley, Duncanville and State Champion Irving MacArthur featuring Girlz Prep Reports #1 player from the 2012 class Alexis Jones, not to mention area powerhouses North Shore and The Woodlands. Bellaire was supposed to have a say on who made it to Austin after making it to back to back Region 3 finals, but double digit losses in both pool play games against Duncanville and Cy Creek set the tone for the season as it seemed every opponent saw red and was up for the challenge. Klein Collins appeared to be on course to be one of the teams to beat in Region 2 after upsetting North Crowley and Irving MacArthur in the D1 Gold Bracket however nagging injuries to Dominique "Double D" Dillingham throughout the season shattered their hopes despite offensive clinics put on by Veja Hamilton.

I ran a poll to see who the readers thought the "Best Team In Houston" was and Falls surprisingly came in 5th behind Elsik, Hightower, Clear Springs and North Shore which is interesting since of the four teams picked ahead of them, Clear Springs appears the only one that doesn't have to fill key spots. Neither does Cy Falls as All State transfer guard Loryn Goodwin teams up with Sedalia Ellis and  Shernise Robertson to give them one of the toughest back-courts in the state as they will come out more athletic off the top than last season as they attempt to defend their Texas Invitational title.

This years Texas Invitational won't be featuring I-Mac and Jones however another state contender from the metroplex will and that's DeSoto who also happen to have one of the top backcourts in the state, Jordan Jones and Bryce Owens. DeSoto along with Duncanville, North Crowley and San Antonio Jay will be appearing from out of town along with some of the top area teams like North Shore, The Woodlands, Klein Collins and Bellaire

As we enter the last day to vote for the "Best Team In Houston" poll, I'm amazed that Klein Forest has only one vote and shocked that Dekaney doesn't have any. I'll place a footnote on this post and refer back to it in February but when you look at the lineup, Durley, Taylor, the Nevitt sisters and so forth and so on, count on Amber Driver as a big key to how far Dekaney goes this season.

No you are not seeing double, the Goss twins are two of the 8th graders from middle school I'll be keeping an eye on as we are now up and running. I plan on taking this to another level as we'll be expanding to Austin, San Antonio and Dallas shortly and Louisiana don't worry, we're coming soon. I know the players, I know the area but more importantly, I know talent. I saw Faith Cook and Angela Harris as sixth graders and knew they would be a players, keep an eye on them next season when they enter high school

Was I wrong about AJ "The Real Deal" Alix or Brooke "The Chosen One" McCarty?

The answer to the above question is NO and I'm not wrong about 7th grade sensation Chassity Patterson either

And we all know how this 7th grader turned out, in fact Recee Caldwell and McCarty team with Brianna Turner on Hoopgurlz Top 25 for the Class of 2014

Since I watched my 8 year old daughter drop 40 against 10 year old boys, in a boy's league, I have become a fan of the game and evaluating talent is what I do. Houston has lot's of kids that can play at the next level, know who they are!
