Turner wants to add a state title to her accomplishments

Brianna Turner has won Gold medals with the US Team, Nike Nationals in club ball and countless tournaments over the years, not to mention  the fact that same says she's best player in the country. What the Notre Dame signee doesn't have is a public school state title, she does have one from private school when she attended Westbury Christian but even if she doesn't achieve it in her final season at Manvel, her upside at the next level has her achieving more beyond that. This seasons Manvel team is good enough to win it all, they just came up short last night but the season is still young

"Who's Hot" for GPR Subscribers coming up

The next group of "Who's Hot" will be coming out this week and they could have easily made my "Tip Sheet" however they're on the  "Hot Sheet" because when you talk about an abundance of D1 caliber talent at a tournament, the Texas Invitational definitely provided that as well as other levels.

One more time, Girlz Prep Report doesn't have an agenda and if I was recruiting players, I'd want to know who the best player available was that someone knowledgeable with a proven track record has not only seen but is also adamant about their evaluation

Davenport adds depth to Duncanville squad

Tiarra Davenport is a legitimate star and has been for quite some time. In Duncanville, she realizes what her role is and does whatever she needs to do to help her team win. Add a one in front of her 00 because that's what type of effort the La Tech signee gave in the championship game and without it, they would not be thhe champs.

Bessard elevates game to Beast status at #txinv

One of my favorite lines is "either you get it or you don't" and Rangie Bessard certainly get's it. Her performance last week started on Tuesday against North Shore when the Minnesota signee dropped four threes in the first half and ended with her having close to a double-double in the first quarter against the top in the country. Bessard's efforts earned her an all tournament spot at Texas Invitational and also a s/o on my Tip Sheet

Foman almost flawless in #txinv finals

High energy, high flying, high performance is what Tasia Foman brings to the table. Her jumper was falling early to keep Duncanville close and if it hadn't been, chances are they would have fallen on "Will The Streak End" weekend. The electrifying guard made the Texas Invitational All Tournament team and also the almost always accurate Tip Sheet

Atkins takes over when it counts in #txinv

Ariel Atkins not only helped lead her Duncanville team to their I'm thinking 77th straight victory which included their third consecutive Texas Invitational title but it also might have given those in attendance a preview of the state championship

Atkins was named tournament MVP and she made the Tip Sheet

Mavericks come up short in championship at #txinv

It's a few sad faces in their runner-up photo but as a team, Manvel has to be happy knowing that this was their game and they are still in the hunt. Last season, that Duncanville team would have popped them by over 20, I'm just keeping it real however this season anything is possible. Why do I think that, well here's why. On Tuesday, Manvel beats North Shore by almost 40 and on Friday North Shore loses to Duncanville by 9 which means absolutely nothing, on any given day teams can be beaten, especially this year

Sandra Meadows is coming up next month and I'm waiting on the brackets to see what's up because they could be doing this again for that championship

Showdown Saturday at #txinv

Brooke McCarty put on one of the greatest scoring exhibitions I've seen in a quarter and believe me I've seen a couple over the years. Her 18 points in the first quarter got the ball rolling, well bouncing as they jumped out on Bellaire and never looked back. The play Manvel, a team they defeated three times last season however this isn't the same Manvel and even though Mansfield Summit was in striking distance when I got there a wise man reminded me of something I always say. "It's not how you start, it's how you finish"

Yesterday several small guards, both in the Texas Invitational and Aldine  Tournament simply went off. Tasia Forman always bring heat on both ends and yesterday was no difference in their game against North Shore, featuring their small guards, Chasity Patterson and Adriiana Jackson, in fact North Shore played well enough to win and lost by only 9 and  if it wasn't for the play of Keyaanna Smith, not Scott who came up big in the game and HUGE down the stretch, who knows

Cy Woods draws Duncanville in the other Gold semi. Even though Mulkey ain't back yet, Cy Woods is showing they're still a threat, not like a poem on a cold Saturday morning and I'm scratching my head because in their minds, they might thing they can get Duncanville, especially after popping both Dekaney last week and Pearland yesterday by double digits. Let me close with Pearland's thriller over Desoto Friday night

KC has Sunshine down horizon

Quai Smith-Sims isn't too happy about being out of action for Klein Collins but she'll be back, as Riley Lopez one of their leading scorers. Despite losing two starters for their nightcap against Cy Woods, they played well enough to win for 27 minutes

2014 Unsigned and GPR Under The Radar Jasmine Nash was in a zone, in fact Auto Zone as her five threes in the FIRST half kept them close. Big-ups to Roxesha Hollis, soph started at point and has a very bright future and when you think about bright futures, Natalya Chatham will keep the bands hits among best sellers in the area. Come on, KC & The Sunshine Band? GOOGLE IT!!!!!

Area scores from 11/22

Adriiana Jackson and Chasity Patterson have bright futures ahead of them after their N Shore careers and even though they lost big against Manvel Tuesday, come February, both know that you only have to be the best team that game, ask Elsik three years ago.

Nevertheless, I'm going to put the link up from the finals and hopefully most of them are correct.

SCORES

I know Cy Woods did NOT beat Desoto 64-28, I just wrote they lost two games at the buzzer so unless there's a 37 point play..........
