San Antonio Lady Hoops shine @passthaball #Super60

Many of you just popped on the scene and don't have anything to reference back and often depend on advice from those who shouldn't be giving it. I remember arguing the case that Texas talent was as good as any and this 15 years ago and one of the "heavy hitters" told me they could evaluate with their eyes clothes and my response was, I believe because evidently YOU AIN'T LOOKING !!!!
I make it a point to watch everyone at this stage, I've seen several players just excel and blow up in a span of six months to a year so watching kids over and over showing things that impress me is always a plus and the San Antonio Lady Hoops is definitely a must catch team for me. Emery Black and Layla Conley grabbed my attention immediately, Aysia Proctor was out during that initial encounter however when I saw her I already knew and all three of those young ladies made the opening Tip Sheet

Abby Smith- you can't teach some thing on the court, fight and never quitting because she is a battler, she showed it on both ends but rebounding and not afraid to go after lose balls was pretty neat for me to see because it's a base. Nice shot, good upside

Calyssa Sevier-another think you can't teach is BB-IQ and when you can think the game, you're in the game, trust me on that. Good job at creating for herself and teammates, made the right plays and passes and showed she could score

Maddison McKinnon- the more I see her, the more she shows me and initially she was doing damage in the open court however since then, I'm really liking her ability t get out of jams while creating her shot and that pull-up definitely is nice to see

Clear Creek Basketball Camp 2029/2030 Tip Sheet

 

SCARLETT PALMER

I definitely got a kick out of covering the Clear Creek Camp today, this took me back to why I started doing this over a decade ago so watching young talented players at the early stages has always been enjoyable because of their energy and continuing to watch their progression has also been rewarding for me. Here are some of the standouts heading into the 5th and 6th grade, I'll start with 2029(6th grade)

CABRINA VANDERFORD

Scarlett Palmer- She already is showing the HEZ in the open court which is going to create some problems, she creates her shot to score off the dribble as well as drop the jumper

Cabrina Vanderford- she understands the game and did a good job of keeping the defender leaning, She also creates her shot to attack the rim as well as hit the outside shot plus she sees the floor

LILLY SANCHEZ

Lily Sanchez- is a solid ballhandler that got to her spot and dropped the jumper yet she also has a deceptive first step which enables her to get to the rim from multiple angles. Good upside

Andee Mitchell- goes after the ball off the rim but she also did something I love and that's "followed her shot". Her rebounding was strong, she scored around the basket and on putbacks

MAKYLI ETHRIDGE

Makyli  Ethridge- she immediately caught my eye in the pregame skills session because of her SWB, speed with the ball, and factor in she's long and athletic, those are huge pluses for her age. She attacks strongly off the dribble, the first step will develop into a problem and she defends as well as plays the passing lane

2019 Winter Slam Super Shootout recap

I love catching young talent as well as observing those I've seen progression on the court but peep this, had a chance to watch CE Elite (Austin) coach Ashley Roberts while she was in middle school, forgot to take a pic with her and I'm so proud of her starring at Duncanville, finishing her college career at Texas nd now giving back as well as Skyrise Raniyah Lewis whose mom was a star at Conroe and her baby is more than on her way so watching the game change multiple times has been frustrating to say the least but remember talent is everywhere

CE Elite - talented group including Tyanna Hodges, great body, attacks relentlessly, Tatyanna Spencer, good upside combined with size, rebounds well, Janiya Davis with her handles and ability to dazzle as well as score multiple ways while Jordy Barrera has UPS, athletic and finishes

Texas Elite Adidas- Heather or NOT, Baymon has the "it" quality that left me somewhat speechless a year ago, she can go, solid play from both Melinda Winston and Caitlyn D'Addeico and that hesitation, change of direction and first step will tale Rube Ogbewire a very long way

R.Y.T.E.S. Warriors- very young and talented group filled with upside, game has and always will start at the one, never question me regarding basketball Emrie Holt has that lightning bolt attacking ability, creates for herself and teammates, Isabella Riggan athleticism and ability to attack was quite nice and Janiya Murphy's first step is borderline devastating, plus she scores mid to long

Skyrise- Raniyah Lewis upside is unlimited, she does things at a young age many seniors heading to college to play can't while Kierra Merchant slices and dices her way to the basket almost at will. Keely Cummings continue to add even more to her impressive game

SA Lady Hoops- brought two very talented squad, Layla Conley sold me at first sighting, she's dropping the long ball at an alarming rate, if you're a defender ,while Emory Black can play multiple positions effectively, gets hers in the flow or whatever while versatility from Aysia Proctor makes you not want to GAMBLE on her on either end because she can take over a game on both ends.

On the HOOPS younger squad, Ariana Rodriguez mixed up with ease , scoring off dribble, mid to long range while steady play from Emery Espionoza handling pressure and making plays was neatly done as well as Chayse Goetz leaving me somewhat speechless with her length and ability to attack only to be superseded by that mid to long range game

Houston Lady Nets #SimmieColsonClassic 6th Grade Division

This squad played only on Sunday and I caught them briefly

Zoe Whitaker continues to impress me by not only being savvy and having a BB-IQ ahead of her years but also her court vision, which continues to create some problems, and her ballhandling under pressure. She understands how to set the defender up multiple ways and watching her add a spin move in traffic to attack and score off the dribble is special

Zoe Alaniz is "long and athletic" which is the base and she appears to be on her way to "the magic number" She rebounds, on both ends, does a good job defensively, and scores off the dribble

Layla Love understands how to use her athleticism on both ends and when she wasn't applying heat on the defensive end, she was hitting the boards but her powerful first step to attack the basket and finishing showing the FLOATA  JUST DID IT  for me

San Antonio Lady Hoops invade #capcityinvitational

That old saying, "they came, they saw, they conquered" is one of the phrases that applies to the San Antonio Lady Hoops because going into the 2nd season, I have sen many of their players in numerous settings and trust me, they are not running, nor walking away fast from any competition as they strive to get better and the progression I continue to see has me beaming from ear to ear. On hand for the Capital City Top Girls Invitational Exposure Camp in the MS session were Emily Carranco, Madison McKinnon, Alyxa Martinez, Julissa Bolinger,  Natalie Dominguez, Ezra Tobias, Vivian Gonzalez, Miranda Garcia, Mya Guzman and Bailey Guzman, not pictured order

Three of their players, Layla Conley, Aysia Proctor and Skye Stephens also stayed for the HS session and to say that they held their own would be a mild understatement. Here's a recap of some the MS session, more coming on Twitter and The Gram
