How bout them Hoyas #MemorialWeekendShowdown

I try and catch the South Texas Hoyas as much as possible because I know they have several talented players, I know they will always get after it and I know they will never give up and some of their games truly reminds me of playing chess, well watching people play chess because if they're in it down the, odds are they'll prevail. Some of the babies got a chance to play up this past weekend and although Miss Three Point Record Katlyn Ghavidel wasn't available, Jessica Paz Y Puente, Sara Gwin and Ta'Niya Jackson all did well with Hoyas Black while a couple of other bright young stars, Deja Kelly and Sophia Ramos made my MS playing up Tip Sheet, read more

Last time it Brittany Rodgers doing highlights that pput her on the tip sheet, well she added more highlights this weekend as she comntinues to defy thee law of gravity, but Emily Sandoval just blew me away so much I had to tweet about her. This is a solid team, well program, but I can't stress how much I enjoy watching them go after it. Anyssa Curtiss was lighting it up from deeeeep while Megan Valdez was, well just wait for her on the Tip Sheet

Hawthorne may have been cancelled on TNT but Bijan Webb-Hawthorne was doing some cancelling in the paint, scoring, rebounding and playing human eraser blocking shots. Good size from Victoria Hall allows her to do multiple things including scoring from mid-range against almost anyone and since Kelly and Ramos continue to blow me away, why not. Kelly and Sara Andrews are two of the best 6th graders I've seen in my life and I'm talking GBB life which dates back to the Nineties when my baby was in that category. Kelly is simply legit, no question, no discussion case is closed. Ramos improvement keeps her rising and if she grows a couple of  more inches, there's no telling what level of D1 she'll be playing. Got to close the pictures with "Miss Highlight"

3T Platinum at #MemorialWeekendShowcase

Karrington Donald has been an exciting player since I saw her a couple of years ago. She showed me she was basketball savvy beyond her years even then and her aggressiveness on both ends simply blew me away. She attacks at will and can rebound on both ends plus she's deadly from outside. Speaking of deadly, Jasmine Lescard has range to spare, she let's them fly from almost anywhere plus she can attsck the rim for baskets

Jalyn Clay has legitimized herself as  D1 player, she's at the magic number and with athleticism to spare, she's a no brainer as far as playing at that level of the next level. She's a rebounding machine that won't quit not to mention can take defenders off the dribble and face the basket to score

Speaking of rebounding machines, Stella Somdah is that as well as she has no problems banging and the improvement she and her Dobie HS teammate Jade Giron have made since I last saw them, like Rl9 this was my first time seeing 3T this season, has shown that they continue to have upside. I didn't get a chance to see Gold but if their #33 , Kelsey Gil, played on Platinum then she did a good job attacking the basket and anticipating passes because remember, I love players that can play the passing lanes

Peters ignites RL9 at #MemorialWeekendShowdown

Bernie Peters belongs in several clubs I've made up, she's in the "game stars at the one" club and even more importantly she's a Hall Of Fame in the "size don't matter" Texas edition. The Rl9 spark-plug caught my eye way back when she was in the 8th grade, read more

I said she had "IT" back in 2010 and she also had D1 colleges extend her offers to her so no matter what you hear or think, this young lady has been on the map

Maddie Powers has been on the map as well, I recall watching her run around when her mom was coaching my daughter and the improvement she has continued to show has her in a great situation for the next level, it always did, she's six feet and athletic and what I saw this past weekend should have her a D1 lock. Other than Gabby Castillo who has definitely improved and Alexis Adams who will be on Tip Sheet, I can't give you a rundown on anyone else due to numbers being incorrect on the roster

Coming up, Platinum Varsity champions Dallas Stars and Lady Big Dogs #MemorialWeekendShowcase

Two of the electrifying teams I saw many last season were in the hunt last year at Prime Time Nationals and in the semifinals, the Lady Big Dogs held off a strong Dallas Stars team in the finals. This season, both teams were clicking at July form and I'll drop something on how they won it all later today

Under The Radar Amber Richard makes decision

Amber Richard is a fighter and she battled back from an injury to have a more than solid senior season at Goose Creek Memorial which certainly was the cake. The icing has been spread and the candles lit as she will live her dream of playing at the next level with LSU-Eunice

The point guard narrowed her choices down prior to the Chris Saiz Unsigned Senior Showcase after a solid club season start with the Rodriguez brothers at Texas Elite-Adipure  but LSU-Eunice saw what I've been raving about as far as this young ladies ability to control the tempo, run a team, defend and score if needed and the fit was perfect as she has family in the area

Congratulations to Amber along with her parents Tony and Lori on a job well done

SW Elite worth price of admission at #MemorialWeekendShowdown

Janesa Negron Amaya Brown and Kavionna Brown
Okay I tweeted about Alexis Reyes after watching her launch missiles from somewhere near Albuquerque and the more I watched this talented team play, it's like I was watching Pleasantville or something similar. This is the type of team I love watching in the morning, basically because I'm usually coming in not 100% early in the morning but exciting and entertaining is what the young ladies from New Mexico added with their talent and I was beaming all day Sunday

2018 Amaya Brown already has Pac 10 offers, trust me, she'll have colleges knocking each other over after this summer, this kid is legit and what makes her even more legit is I thought she was a BCS lock as a sophomore just by watching her in action. Kavianna Brown is the perfect back-court match as they brought heat on defense as well, Kavianna only a freshman but she makes things happen and her ability to finish in acrobatic fashion, picture the Matrix as a basketball movie, plus both Browns let it fly from Downtown like, wouldn't you know,  Freddie Brown, if you don't know, GOOGLE IT!

Ashdyn Monahan Alexis Reyes and Amaya Brown

Talk about launching missiles from 25 feet in distance and height, these young ladies joined Reyes with the skyscrapers and when they are falling, my oh my. Reyes also showed a nice midrange game plus could score off the dribble, with either hand. Ashdyn Monahan also could shoot the three, maybe not as high but accurate plus she simply keeps coming at you on the boards

Kristen Dearth and Leigh James
Someone else that looked good taking defenders from the wing was Reagun Barnard who also showed she could finish with contact but the talent just kept coming. Leigh James was the glue, she did whatever it took and her value might not show up in the box score but the pass to pass leading to the assist or the pick or maybe even the steal the ignite the run, well she did that. Kristen Dearth is 6'2, she relishes contact and she finishes strong. She can face the basket and score, hello she's 6'2 , and she has excellent timing which enabled her to get plenty of blocks and deflections.

Big Tip Sheet coming and SW Elite I haven't forgotten

Brooke "just shook someone" Jolivette already made the always important Girlz Prep Report Under The Radar Tip Sheet and this picture should tell you who'll be on the big one coming up plus I'm still tripping about Amaya Brown being a 2018

Story still to come on SW Elite, hold on while we take a break with our sponsors

Don't forget two things, no one covers this like I do and Prime Time Nationals will be a GPR Certified EVENT!!!!!!!

I caught the Cajun Express at #MemorialWeekendShowdown

I always tease Louisiana teams from around the Lafayette area about bringing me boudin and although they laugh and I think I'm kidding, I'm actually not because I love spicy foods. I had to settle for their game and like the region, it was spicy and full of flavor the weekend and here's why. Maddy Brasseaux and Madelyn LeJeune just went to work attacking the rim, LeJeune mixed it up and hit players on the money from the wing  as well.

Sarah Guidry is long and athletic, she deflected passes and was a mismatch waiting to happen while Anna Shaw was simply all over the place creating problems. Abigail Jolie and Lindsey Priola both showed they could do some midrange damage but the damage inside was caused by Jacey Broussard and Sam Logan

Tory Jacobs-Was I right?

Anytime I get to brag about calling one of these MS ball players a can't miss, I'm going to do just that. Some have called me a guru, clairvoyant and whole lot of other things I choose not to print and even though I kid about having a crystal ball, am I really kidding or am I just that good. I asked Minnesota signee Tory Jacobs if she remembered our talk back in 2010 when I covered the Ganon Baker Camp at Texas A&M, it was the first article for the blog and it has snowballed to something I didn't imagine but she responded she did

Tory was one of the youngest players there and I first noticed her because she appeared to be shy, then I really became curious to see how she would react against the older players, I mean there were several legitimate four and five stars players in attendance not to mention countless next level players yet the young lady excelled. I told her I was expecting big things from her and of course, she delivered

Louisiana Lady Hornets bring sting #MemorialWeekendShowdown

As I glance through the roster and observe my notes, I'm even more impressed with the Hornets than I was the team brought five eight graders down to play in the varsity division, this means those young ladies were going against players as much as three grades above them. Traya Bruce, Victorianna Nelson and Dannecia Nora showed a lot of potential, as well as Ramsey Messer and Lauren Scott. Nora was working both ends of the paint and with her size and strength plus age, who knows how high she'll be able to go while Nelson sometimes was a blur as she attacked from the wing

Breon Richard did a nice job handling the ball under pressure while seeing the floor well and Blair Ringo was definitely another threat in the paint. Again this team brought heat and I mean no matter who was in the game but Alicia Johnson was one that kept it in triple digits
