Cy Fair Invitational Friday Tip Sheet

Deja Mason

I caught a little action on Friday night as the Cy Fair Invitational started off and after I left, I knew I would be in for a treat over the next two days and of course, I was correct however the tone was set by several energized players who did little things that caught my eye

2013
Deja Mason-5'3 guard-Running Rebels
Mason made her team go as she pushed the ball through traffic and got to the rim whenever she wanted. Not only could she attack and finish, she also nailed a few mid range jumpers

2014
Ariel Taylor-5'6 guard-Houston Insiders
I guess being a former boxer can be a plus and Taylor's strength enables her to out-rebound taller opponents  and finish strong attacking the basket as she put's in double-doubles consistently

Olivia Ogwumike-6'2-Cy Fair Nike Nationals
The third of four very talented sisters truly came into her own this season as she added the three ball to her resume. Already a rebounding machine, Ogwumike gives her team yet another offensive threat from a variety of ways

Jasmine Nash-5'7 guard-Cy Fair Platinum 16U
During the school season, she showed she was a combo guard and the success she had doing that has brought her added confidence in her game. Ruthless and fearless, she has that never say quit attitude on both ends

Shanqueria Deboise-5'5 guard-Lady Ballers
The prototype point guard that has the pass first mentality, both in school and club ball. Don't blink your eyes a couple of times because she has the ability to drop points in droves. Strong and solid, she creates very well for herself and her teammates

2015
Lauren Grigsby-5'8 guard-Houston Fastbreakers Black
The first time I saw her during the school season I thought she was an out of state transfer because I knew nothing about her. As a new addition to HFB, before it's said and done, plenty will know what I already do and that's "she can play".
