No misconceptions as #PrimeTime makes and keeps me happy

Before I attended last seasons Prime Time Nationals, I went into the tournament with an open mind and a fresh view. The worse thing you can do is believe negative things based on what you've been told, I'm a perfect example and if you've been around long enough, you'll understand exactly what I'm talking about.
I left last seasons event knowing that there was not only an abundance of young ladies who had the ability to play college ball somewhere but their July event has a chance to become a major player based on some of talent that was playing. Google Lauren Cox or Natalie Chou and refer back to the search bar on this blog and see what I said about how these young ladies would make a difference on their high school teams and be among the top players not only in Texas but the country. They were two of the many I saw at last seasons event and the list just keeps growing

2014 Ladresha Dillard goes after everything

I didn't see any Miss Triple Doubles or Chou's at the Dallas Spring Shootout however some might be on the verge. What I did see was many next level players, including several that have not only D1 but major D1 potential. From young ladies like 2018 Addison Ryan who I liked when I thought she was a '15 or '16 to Ladresha Dillard who brings a very high level energy on both ends of the floor, the Spring Shootout was simply fantastic for me and what I do. Also I want to commend Prime Time, Cy Fair Shock and DFW Elite organizations for providing me the tools I needed to successfully identify the talent. There is nothing more important to me that organization because once I get in the zone, everything starts flowing. More to come on the DSS from the GPR later today but also remember I will be at Prime Time Nationals again July 24-28

Dallas Spring Shootout closes however

Even though the tournament has ended, the fun isn't over because I'll be bring recaps, mini stories and just for fun, I'm throwing in a Tip Sheet featuring I guess eight to ten players out of 20 plus I can choose from. One thing is for sure, 2017 and 2018 were well represented and just like everything else I've been right about, I'm talking GBB, MONSTER classes are coming

Plenty of surprises on opening day at Dallas Spring Shootout

Argyle's Delaney Sain was one of several surprises on hand at the Dallas Spring Shootout hosted by Prime Time. I identified dozens of next level players on opening day ranging all te way up to high D1's but what continues to overwhelm me is the number of middle school players that have a shot to do some real damage in high school. Due to slow internet speed, I'll pick this back up when I get to Houston as I'll have a "Tip Sheet", a few mini stories and a rundown of the event

Pearland Hawks return to Insiders Basketball Classic

The Pearland Hawks have one of the up and coming programs in the city and they will be returning to the Insider Basketball Classic May 18-19. I’ll get another close look at the 14U team which has several bright stars on the team  Reagan Merkle played with Jade LeBlanc Earnest on the CHSA homeschool team this school year and when she’s hot; she’s hot and shows signs of being a solid three-point shooter. She is new to competitive ball but has shown signs of improvement. Speaking of getting better, LeBlanc Earnest seems to being doing just that and the transformation I’ve seen since the Space City Impact earlier in the year shows she’s been working. Jada Rogers is young in her game; she’s only been playing a couple of years but has a passion for basketball and is learning her position. Alexis Peraza was previously on 7th grade team, but was moved up to 8th grade squad so she can have more opportunity to learn the point guard position and from what I’ve seen and know about Alex, all I can say is be ready because she certainly will.  Several new faces will be getting a fresh look from me including Kameron “Kammi” Ishimura and 5’10 Morgan Ehrlich to name a few but I know all the Hawks will be ready to fly

The Woodlands Iademarco commits

Here's another player that falls under the "boy how time has flied" and after seeing this long and smooth middle school baller launching bombs from the time line with amazing accuracy, you knew, wait, I knew two things, 2014 Nicole Iademarco would reach the magic number and she would play D1 ball. As time progressed, so did her game and one of The Woodlands star players has decided Arizona State will be her next stop after coming off a very successful Boo Williams showing with her club team Cy Fair Nike Elite

DFW Elite Swiftly arrive at #TXSpringInv

Alexis Morris and Breah Powell were called one of if not the most dominant club back-court before it's all said and done.. Arianna Whitfield and Alexandria Crain have showed that they can actually take over when needed while Stephanie Jackson has complimented the others as well and all are guards.

 Deauzya Richards blinded me more with her talent than the orange shoes she was wearing the first time I saw her as she has simply continued to rise to whatever occasion, btw, I have a pair just like those. Richards, Zarielle Green and Kayla Owens are similar players in size however each brings their own uniqueness to the club. Richards has shown the ability to play multiple positions quite well at the next level, Owens sometimes appears to have wings as she simply soars while Green, well that's the right color because as the baby of the bunch, she's going to be hard to contain once everything is said and done

Lauara Daulton was a huge pick up at the post position while Jade Williams is simply showing signs that she will dominate on both ends of the floor and I'm not talking about just the paint as she is facing the basket as well. All of these kids are in middle school and with with the exception of Green (2018), they are all from that monster 2017 class. When you talking about a squad full of potential D1 players, look no further because they have the makings to be BigTyme players

I love being blown away and this 2017 class from Texas has to be nearing a category 5 with the number of not only next level players but players who will come in a make major differences at their respective high schools next season. I'll take a step further, mark my word this will be one of if not the largest class of college players the state has ever had and many of these players were on hand at the Texas Spring

Aakilah Caldwell-Tyle

I was told by many they had more firepower and after watching this young group continue to explode through the early summer, that would be an understatement as the group is scary good. Anytime a player has on the number of my all time favorite show, I take notice and Aakilah Caldwell-Tyle might not be called upon to save the world, she will make a difference in many games during her career as she would was simply amazing not only by scoring on a variety of ways but by also playing super defense. Mikayla Foy is a beast in the making who runs the floor and finishes well and with her strength, she is going to do some damage. Jade Compton continues to improve and show signs she will be a force to reckon with and my first good luck at Pamela Herrera tells me they have yet another scoring guard that can also attack and finish

Again this is going to be a special class and I saw several young players who are ahead of the game, not only skill wise but the all important knowledge of the game but even more important that that, the desire to get better, the fire they possess while playing against older players and having the right temperament will be huge in the long run. I often kid players about taking multiple photos of them because they didn't like a particular one and often use the phrase, I don't like wasting film. Some crack up and some wonder what in the world is he talking about, I get that but it humors me anyway. I love watching talented players and I sometimes equate doing that to a Polaroid picture, you know it's coming, you just have to wait for it to develop.

Armani Allen

DFW Elite Gold has several players that continue to show me they're going to have multiple offers on continuing their careers at the next level. Armani Allen, Taylor Tennison and Jordan Alexander all caught my eyes the first time I saw them primarily due to their athleticism and knowledge of the game. They have continued to improve and are on the verge of doing big things. Khali Pippins-Tryon's mid-range is turning deadly and Ashli Jones continues to be a pleasant surprise

Sausha Davey

Raven Johnson gets to the rim almost at will which means nothing unless you can finish and not only does she seal the deal, she is an and one waiting to happen. Johnson jumped so high on one play, I had tome to change the battery in my camera before she came down and I would have that on film but again, I had to change the battery. The battery never needs changing for Sausha Davey and Najala Howell as both showed the potential to dominate in the paint on both ends

I've always said the game starts at the one, many didn't believe me but I think they do now and Tana Driver, well check out the Tip Sheet

UTR no more as Alexus Hynes commits

Add Alexus Hines to the list of players who have landed on their feet as she will be attending North Carolina Central University next season. The 2013 Hightower star played a key role in the Hurricanes run to the playoffs this season and her spunk and fire, along with her talent are some of the reasons she will do well at the next level
