Huskies three for all helps them to win over Nicholls State

Last nights game between Nicholls State and HBU was one of the best games I've attended all season and not just because of the BOGO Cane's coupons. Plenty of excitement, ultra-athletic  Monet Neal almost had a double-double while Anna Strickland posted her 9th of the season

BOX SCORE

Plenty of stuff to spread around, Lisa Zderadicka, who will forever be mentioned in tweets by me as Lisa V because it takes me a long time to type, put on an offensive show going 6-8 from bta, scoring 22 and passing out 5 assists while Rachel Arthur did a little bit of everything scoring 24 on just about every way imaginable

Nicholls State placed four players in double figures, including Southland Conference Player Of The Week Marina Lilly who finished with a double-double. Next up for the Huskies, SE Louisiana at home tomorrow, that's Saturday folks at 4pm and yes, I'll be there

Channelview @ North Shore one of top games tonigh

North Carolina signee and recently nominated to MDAA Alyssa Okeene and her North Shore crew are rolling along quite easily through not only district but their season as well as their only blemish has been to Duncanville, other than that few have come close and their 22-1 record, based on Max Preps, wins include a couple against defending state champion Cy Woods

This should be an interesting game as they host Channelview but then their other interesting games on tap for tonight as well, including Cy Ranch at Langham who still have an outside shot at making the playoffs. Here are the schedules for tonight's games via our only local newspaper and even though Channelview at North Shore is nowhere to be found, I'll stop by HEB and get some free samples if they aren't playing

SCHEDULE

'18 Katlyn Ghavidel #UnderTheRadar no more

The first time I saw Katlyn Ghavidel, there was no question about her ability to shoot the long ball, I think she dropped 7 or 8 the first time I saw her and over the course of the next three seasons, that became somewhat of a norm, keep in mind she hadn't even entered high school yet

Fast forward to high school, as a freshman, she averaged almost 20 ppg and made over 100 three pointers, this year almost mirrors last season as far as ppg but she dropped her 100th 3 in her first 22 games and also went over the 1000 point mark for her career

More accolades for former #UnderTheRadar Brittany Panetti

The first time I saw Brittany Panetti play was somewhere in Katy for a team called SWAT and rightfully so because that's exactly what she was doing, swatting everything in sight. The 6'3 forward's continuous progression s somewhat staggering as she creates problems in the paint and can face the basket and score, mid to long range at that

The former GPR Under The Radar star has even proved doubters wrong by coming back from an ACL injury to help Tompkins HS pull off some big wins this season but the even bigger news of all is that she signed with New Mexico back in November. She's been named to several All Tournament teams, most recently at the Mansfield Rotary event and was just named a McDonald's All American nominee

Huskies host Nicholls State tonight

Anna Strickland was impressive the first time I saw her in MS and after watching her do some amazing things over the course of her career, it's definitely no surprise to see her succeed with HBU. Strickland recorded her 8th double-double in the Huskies tough 71-64 loss to McNeese State and when you factor in that was her 8th in 12 games this season, she's averaging 2 of them every 3 games, math is very important SAT testing is later this month, but get this, her 13 rpg  is good enough for a 6th place tie in the country

Former Cy Springs star Brensha Coleman is the lone area player on Nicholls State's roster, Cy Springs has been  steadily improving and is coming off of an OT upset victory against Cy Fair while joining the staff is former Colonels star Jenny Nash who happened to light em up from way downtown previously for defending state champion Cy Woods, I guess technically it's two area stars on the roster. Nicholls State's Marina Lilly also was recently named Southland Conference Player Of The Week read more

Here are the standings for the season and remember to support your local universities folks, I can't stress the importance of younger player actually seeing older players that have made it to the next level  and always remember, "it's not what you do, it's who you do it against"

San Jac hosts nationally ranked Tyler JC today

The only photos I love more than my selfies of me Baby LoLo are when I actually catch a shot that blows me away on the court. I've seen San Jacinto multiple times and guess what, I'll probably see them later today as they host nationally ranked Tyler Junior College at 5pm

#UnderTheRadar Tolbert's hot hand helps Cy Springs to OT upset

I started to put the picture up from middle school however I don't want to upset sophomore Tia Tolbert @QueenT__  however she and her Cy Springs Panthers' teammates evidently had something to prove as they upset Cy Fair 58-53 in what could be huge for that final playoff spot. Cy Woods is a lock and it appears Cy Falls is too and as D'Asia Collins and DiDi Richards get back into action, it would be safe to assume that they are locks as well, or are any of them

One more time, this is the toughest district "in the area" and I think I've been saying that for the past five years so it's early but this win was huge as Tolbert's 15 points which tied her with senior guard Tasia Hayes for leading scorers on the team. Cy Fair's Kyler Wyatt led all scorers with 15

Monroe ignites Golden Eagles in D-17 win over Lobos

So many times I've left games over the past two seasons wondering why Jack In The Box stopped selling apple turnovers and one thing that drives me crazy is unforced errors over and over. Last night was not one of those games, in fact it was actually a pretty good game despite Cy Falls 10 point win (61-51) over Langham Creek. The Lobos actually led after one , 13-10, if you follow me on my now UNHACKED Instagram account, I posted several videos from the game as freshman Dyani Robinson helped get them going. Another key was the ferociousness of post Ugonma Ogbonnaya in the paint but when she got into foul trouble, things took a turn the other way

Daeja Monroe came off the bench for the Lady Eagles and hit two big threes and a layup to help them put this game almost out of reach, outscoring the Lobos 29-10 in the second quarter but Langham Creek simply wouldn't quit. Desiree White and Courtney Favor were hitting big shots to keep them close while another freshman, Briley Perkins put on a fourth quarter show to try and pull off a last minute run and she did on a variety of shots and spin moves. This is probably the best Langham squad I've seen in over 10 years and I'm talking about potential and when you factor in Kayla Owens isn't playing, next season they'll be in the mix

Right now Cy Falls wants to be in that mix and who knows, I called them the Bomb Squad a few years ago because of their multiple long range shooters that propelled them to state, well they have several that  can knock it down other than Monroe. Kiara McElroy steadily has come back from an injury, she can shoot it, in fact she has more four point plays than any player I've ever seen this century. Jae Branch just got back last night, she can drop em as well as others including Nia Fuller but Fuller's pull-up on the baseline probably thwarted Langham's last run

Joannae Taylor was, well Joanne and she led all scorers with 21 on a variety of shots and the good news is they were from everywhere but long range but she's another deep threat. I always say that the game starts at the one and I was super pleased at Daja Craft's ability to see the floor as well as Perkins handling the heat as a freshman and even more importantly, I didn't think of Jack In The Box nor turnovers after I left

2015 #HoopAHolics Watch List

It's always good to see talented young players, especially numerous times and always talk about progression and working on your weaknesses. Many of the young ladies in attendance at this years HoopAHolics have already been "on my radar" so it definitely brightened my days viewing the video seeing that they are getting better. For the new ones, many of you blew me away almost instantly however one thing I can say and truly mean, the upside among the players at this event was something because I can honestly say no one has reached their full potential and trust me, that's a great thing

2016 reminder, always double check

Okay I've went over this several times before and this is a perfect example of what I'm talking about as far as what you get so check out the link for this weeks Monday and Tuesday games , you'll see Katy Taylor and Klein Forest are playing against themselves, maybe it's Varsity vs JV and it's also showing New Caney Porter at Crosby and vice versa, haven't mapped out logistics but maybe they'll play the first half at one school and the second half at the other. Hopefully this brightened your day but remember, you need to double check
