Campbell Center Competition-Let The Games Begin

Clear Falls (4A) and North Shore (5A) are the dark horses to represent R3 in Austin next season but if anything has been learned over the years it's you can't count anyone out. Ask Elsik about last season!!!!!

Great Story From She's Ballin

I can't tell you how many times I've run across people in this arena who are just simply full of it and it's refreshing to have my chats with Ray Caldwell who speaks his mind, better yet put's in print. I've done the same over the years, maybe sometimes a bit to aggressive however you have to understand my "mentality". This particular article speaks about using terms like "Best" a bit too frequently when rating players and let me throw in "Real Deal" because I have seen people use that just as much. The sad part about it is that a lot of those who use those terms rarely go out of their districts or comfort zones to know how real the deal truly is.

Here's the link

SHE'S BALLIN

I saw Caldwell's daughter play when she in the 7th grade and like so many other young players I've seen that had "it", I knew right off the top that great things were in store for her in due time and Recee Caldwell has not disappointed.  Trust me, there are several good players out there but that doesn't translate into playing at the next level and if you follow my blog and read statistics at making it to the next level, you would know it's only around 4%. Sometimes even those "great" players who make actually make it doesn't guarantee a trip to the WNBA or even major success for their college teams in fact Hoopgurlz  just touched on that point recently

5A-R4 Can Wagner Repeat?

Out of the four teams in the 5A Region 4 semifinals, one name hasn't changed for the third consecutive season and that's San Antonio Wagner. As impressive as that feat is, when you look at the fact that they have done it after losing stars Ebony Watkins and Arielle Robinson, it becomes even more impressive. Wagner represented R4 in Austin last season but ran into IMAC so however this turns out for them this weekend, it's been a great run.

Keep The Scores Coming @girlzprepreport

Around 5pm, we should know if #1 ranked Beaumont is still alive, this starts an onslaught of games from the Campbell Center, six in all over the weekend. With the magic of Twitter, you can stay informed by following me. Also please send updates from across the state

AREA SCHEDULE

POSTSEASON BRACKETS

3A-R4 Ladynecks Keep Rolling

West Columbia had a big scare when leading scorer Aaliyah Ward went down in the first round of the playoffs at the end of the game with an injury to her kneecap. They had already lost second leading scorer Karlie Sweeny two weeks earlier however during the playoffs they have come together as other team members have picked up the slack including Tiffany Marshall, Mainisha Burton, Donye Morgan and Krystal Davis. Davis older sister, Jade, starred for West Columbia before doing the same at Texas A&M Corpus Christi. After finishing second to Needville, they are now two games away from state and that's their main goal

FINAL FOUR SCHEDULES

Duncanville has their eye on the prize however they are one of many teams who are looking forward to moving on . Here is the schedule for all of the AREA teams that will be playing

SCHEDULES

5A-R2 Semifinal Predictions

SACSHE VS THE WOODLANDS

The Highlander were on to something as they had their backpacks ready for Waco. I will analyze the match-up, blah, blah, blah, blah. With all of that being said Sacshe lost to Desoto by 26, Highlanders lost by 2

DEKANEY VS DESOTO

I predict the winner of this game will be going to state and if anyone has a chance out of these four teams to beat Dekaney, it's Desoto. If Dekaney handles the back court pressure and stays out of foul trouble, there will be two area teams in Austin

4A-R3 Semifinal Predictions

MANVEL VS OZEN

Beaumont Ozen is fast and explosive however Summer Creek and Huntsville were in contention late in the game the last two rounds. Summer Creek and Huntsville are NOT Manvel who is on the verge of starting something big, big that is with their 6'2 bookmarks of Jordan Hosey and Brianna Turner. Hosey is coming off a 28 point performance while Turner can play all five positions and is a triple double waiting to happen

BARBERS HILL VS CLEAR FALLS

Speaking of "bigs", 6'3Kendall Shaw and Shannon Evans continue to climb up that HILL as they have reached their first Final 4. At this stage of the game, anything can happen and I'm sure Clear Falls is thinking the same thing as former HTX player Erin Farmer can put up numbers in bunches and is simply a beast in the paint

PREDICTION

Club teammates Turner, Hosey, Shaw and Evans will fight it out on Saturday to see who goes to state.

5A-R3 Semifinal Predictions

Loryn Goodwin was already a noted and accomplished player prior to transferring to Cy Falls. I saw her play during the summer with Austin Elite and I knew she would bring something to the table when she arrived. She's blended in quite nicely and the Eagles table has been reset after losing two starters and their 6th man to an ACL injury. Can the Eagles fly to Austin?

FINAL 4 PREDICTIONS

5A-R1 Amazing Alexis Aiming At Austin

If you type Alexis Jones in the search bar you will see several stories I've done on her not to mention the numerous times her name has popped along the way but if you don't have time I  considered her the best basketball player in the country. Last season she led Irving MacArthur to a state championship and she's picking up where she left off as they knocked off Plano West 67-60, Jones leading the way with 37 points. I haven't seen IMAC this season however I have seen Plano West and they are the only team that has beaten the best team I have SEEN this season and that's Duncanville. Here's a video from last seasons 67-57 IMAC win against the Panthers and should they meet again in the region finals, the winner just might be the team to beat
