Talk about young teams, Dekaney has had some impressive victories so far this season. They have already beaten three of the Chronicles Pre-Season top 10 teams, Elkins, Nimitz and College Park. Two of their 3 losses have been to Elsik, a Chronicle Pre-Season Top 10 team and Bryan, ranked top 10 in the state. Now they have taken care of two of the four teams likely to make the playoffs in their district, Westfield and Klein Collins, which sets the stage for next Friday nights contest against Tomball led Taylor Frank, a Pre-Season Chronicle AGH. This game will be for first place in their districts first half. The downside, Dekaney will have to play these same teams on the road in the second half. This is one of the toughest districts in the area.
Dekaney is led by senior Lexy Harris, one of the top bigs in the class of 2010 in Houston.
Sophomores Shunta Nevitt and Alexis Durley, yep (2012) along with freshman sensation Briana Taylor will be keys over the next few years at Dekaney.
One of the most surprising teams in the city has been Klein Forest, led by Keylantra Taylor (2011). KF took Dekaney to OT before losing a few weeks ago and their 13 wins are more than they had combined the previous two seasons.
