Tip Sheet Five from Fly Swift Camp

I caught a glimpse of Cori Schnell a little over a week ago at Prime Time Nationals and she was definitely one of the bright spots. There are shooters and there are scorers, this young lady knows how to put the ball in the basket under any circumstances she faces and her ability last weekend exceeded my expectations. The next four players have made both GPR and Full Court Tip Sheets, Schnell will definitely be joining them

Chennedy Carter is a Top 100 caliber player in the overloaded with talent Texas 2017 class and  I say caliber because just because a player might not be listed doesn't mean they shouldn't be there. Carter's ability is raising eyebrows because she can play both guard spots and is going to step into high school and make the transition rather smoothly

Alexis Morris is definitely one of the top players in the 2017 class and I'm talking all positions. Her poise and knowledge of the game exceeds her years and her drive trickles down to her teammates. I'm seeing her become more vocal on the court and some of the things she did during the past season were definitely heard loud and clear across the country

Maddison Williams and Zarielle Green both continue to simply amaze me and the killing part is that they are both around "the magic number", six feet, they are both long and ultra athletic, they are both HUNGRY and don't care who you match them up against, in fact they relish the opportunity because they aren't afraid of the challenge. Oh yeah, both are from the 2018 class and believe me these are a couple of names you will be hearing about for a very long time. Green was excited about receiving several letters from various colleges from the summer, before it's done, both will have the complete alphabet of schools from A to ZAE!

AC heats up at Fly Swift Camp

The more I watch, the more I know I'm about to take this show on the road and after watching even more unknown players from our surrounding states, I was simply floored watching Amanda Carter, a 2014 guard from Arkansas, at the Fly Swift Camp. Carter was a defensive specialist that showed she could also handle the ball and run a team in part one of the camp however after intermission, aka lunch time, the show began. Actually it began prior to part two as I watched her launch NBA range threes in a game of around the world, but the whistle sounded for the scrimmages, she showed she could score all sorts of ways, including taking it to the rim and with her strength, she simply has the ability to overpower opposing guards

Ward and Daulton keep growing at Fly Swift Camp

I've watched Jaryanna "Jary" Ward numerous times this season and the thing about this young lady who's about to enter high school is that she just looks better and better every time I watch her play. She's long and athletic and at 5'10, all are huge pluses but what really impressed me was her ability to step out and hit the mid-range. At the Fly Swift Camp, she was a pleasant surprise as she showed me even more by not only being able to put it on the floor from the wing, she also showed she could handle it the full length of the court and the progression I'm seeing coupled with her upside will make her a legitimate multi-position player

Also from the Texas star studded 2017 class, Laura Daulton, like Ward, is about to enter high school and she too has shown progression throughout the season. She's 6'2, give or take an inch, and physical, that in itself places her ahead of the game, or maybe I should say above. She has good hands and footwork but one thing she has at an early age that you can't teach is she won't quit, she simply goes after everything on the boards and with her body, expect her to create many problems over her high school career

Sisters bring plenty of energy to Fly Swift Camp

Pictures tell stories, well for me and looking back at the Fly Swift Camp this past weekend there a few stories coming. First of all, the Turner sister, Harmony and Lyric showed plenty of energy and lot's of excitement on the floor

The same can be said for the Phelps sisters, Leah, Rachel and Hannah, newcomers to Texas bursting with plenty of potential.

Even though  Ashari Morris didn't participate, I've seen the younger sister of Alexis and she too has plenty of upside. Tip Sheets are coming as promised, as well as some hidden surprises

Fly Swift Camp soars off the top

A picture is worth a lot and what better picture o describe opening day of the Fly Swift Camp than with two of the countries top 2018 players, Zae Green and Madison Williams elevating off the top and believe me the stars are within their reach. The only thing I like better than finding new talent is seeing the progression of players I've already scouted or evaluated and as Damion "Swift" McKinney explained to the young campers the importance of them continuing to work because just because you're this or that here, someone just as good from New York to Vegas is putting in the time

This picture also captured two of the top 2017's , Chennedy Carter and Alexis Morris but I''ll have a Tip Sheet on the new players I've just spotted along with one on how some others have elevated their games, stay tuned and enjoy the short film

WBW-Never waiver on what you see

Brooke McCarty and Brianna Turner have done some pretty impressive things in their careers and although they have one more year left in high school, trust me the best is yet to come. I first caught Brooke in the 4th or 5th grade, Turner not long after but both simply had it and if Texas Hoops had a way to search posts and threads from long ago, well Hoopgurlz as well, you would know exactly what I said

The knock on Brooke was she was too small and couldn't do this or that and Turner was raw and thin, blah, blah, blah, but until I'm wrong on kids I label "can't miss", I'm going to continue doing it my way. Hey is that that A&M girl? Go CW!!!!!

Last WBW -WAS I RIGHT

Never ask a question when you don't know the answer or something like that and although you may get answers from other places that sound good, I'm going to always keep it real on whether a kid is talented enough to have a shot at the next level or if they can turn a program around because they are among the top players in the state

Klein Forest had never made it to the playoffs, use the search bar on the blog and see what I said when Regina Scott, Ekiyah Gray and Ebony Parker set foot on campus. Not only did they turn the program around, making the playoffs the last three seasons, this terrific trio has a shot, a legitimate shot at going out with a bang and I'm talking Austin. Buy a newspaper to read, check with me on GBB

OMG D'Asia Collins WBW

D'Asia Collins has a WBW double whammy and she too is in the 2018 class but she did her thing playing up at PTN. I'm assuming the photo below would put her in the 4th or 5th grade

Future WBW photo-DFW 2018

If you think she's excited now, check Brianna"Bri Bri" Mitchell out on the court. I've watched her and the whole DFW 2018 quite closely over the past year and a half and one thing is for sure, these young ladies are working.

Mitchell, Diamond Atchinson and Jada Peacock get it as they have shown time and time again they bring the heat on both ends and Mitchell is showing where the game starts

The improvement of the Dillworth twins, Jhakyah and Keziah along with their standing right at the magic tells me next level possibilities will be in droves and what can I say about Madison William other than remember her name, she is going to be huge

In case you don't understand my sometimes cryptic messages

*The game starts at the ONE
*The magic number is SIX FEET

Talent can't hide-WBW Recee Caldwell

No matter how good you are, I'm talking on and off the court, I'm going to figure it out. Let's see, UCLA, oh I know who this is. Actually I knew Recee Caldwell even before I saw her bounce a ball or make a basket as it seems like I was running into her and her dad at games and the interesting part is neither mentioned she could play but after seeing her on the court for the very first time in the 6th or 7th grade, well it didn't take me but two minutes into the game to figure it out

Caldwell was at that initial GB camp I covered and as I look the pictures, several of the bright young stars from the 2014 class were there, go back and read what I said about Texas 2014 on my blog and as usual, I was correct. Caldwell is one of the top players in the country, she's going to go completely off in college and that will be yet another story
