Nekia Jones ready to deliver at next level
Beaumont Ozen star Nekia Jones has proved them wrong at every level so far. She wouldn't be able to do this or that when she played here or there however the first time I saw the young lady perform a few years ago I knew she had "IT". Lot's of people have compared her to Danielle Adams, probably because of their similar frames however there is not another Danielle Adams, at least I haven't seen one.
With that being said, there isn't another Nekia Jones who can play multiple positions, handle the ball like a yo-yo and sees the floor as well as anyone I've seen play from the area, not to mention score on a variety of ways.
She's always been a fan favorite for her ability to do what she does no matter who she goes against and after a stellar summer with her club team, Texas Preps Elite, the 2013 star has decided to continue exciting fans at the University of Texas

Carol Willie gives nod
Everyone has a story and the Carol Willie story has several chapters. As a freshman, I saw the potential this young lady had as she was part of the foundation that made Cy Falls one of the best teams in Region 3. She continued to improve on over the past couple of summers, I saw her battling against some of the top posts in the country with her Houston Wildcat club team showing she was a legitimate D1 player. Willie's hard work has paid off as she committed to Texas Christian University today where she will continue to write yet another chapter. As a force on the defensive side, she has accomplished many things like helping lead Cy Falls to state this past season. Once she understands how good she can be on the other end, you will see a different Willie who will do major damage.

New Orleans star will be Ragin' with the Cajuns
New Orleans has so many hidden talents that people sometimes forget they actually have some outstanding basketball players on both sides. 2013 Jayln Gordon, a 5'5 point guard from West St John High School happens to be one of those players and what the young lady showed me during the Big State Flava Jam for her New Orleans Lady Blues club team has me thinking she will be doing big things for the University of Louisiana Lafayette. Gordon is also the first commitment for the 2013 class under new coach Garry Brodhead and staff.
Terry Stays Close
One thing I always look for in evaluating players is where they are, how much upside they have left and how much growth they show over the years and in the tip sheet I did for Fullcourt.com for the Big State Flava Jam, I called DFW Elite's Jada Terry the top post in the state for the 2013 class, while also mentioning how she expanded her game and she truly left a lasting impression as she was simply amazing for T-Jack.
Terry will be heading to College Station after her career at Cedar Hill to play for Texas A&M who also got a verbal from 2015 standout Kyra Lambert

Garland star Robinson follows mom
Bridget Robinson might not have had a household name like some of the other 2012 stars on her club team, DFW T Jack, but believe me she can play. After a stellar high school career, Robinson has decided to continue her education and basketball career at Jackson State University. Bridget is following in her mother's, Maudin, footsteps, who also played college basketball at JSU.
No tall tales for 2016

Be prepared for some exciting basketball over the next few years as the talent keeps coming in all shapes and sizes not only in our area and across the state but from what I've seen so far, across the country. The Texas 2016 class reminds me so much of what happened in 2009 that I wouldn't be surprised if history repeated itself, read more
Rising Star's Omozee dazzling at Flava
Having already committed to Oklahoma State, Pflugerville's Diana Omozee helped lead her club team, the Rising Stars, to the 17U Division Championship at the Big State Flava. Standing 5'10, the 2013 Omozee displayed some nifty ball-handling not to mention some crowd pleasing passes throughout the tournament. Take a peek

McCowan stock climbs after solid summer
Tearia McCowan has continued to grow since the first time I saw her as a 6'3 seventh grader a few years ago. Unlike many players that were that tall that young, McCowan already had a college ready body and even though she was raw, you knew certain things would catch up because of some of the things she did instinctively. Her progression has continued and after a solid summer with DFW T-Jack, expect this young lady to really make some noise in high school this season
Texas 2016 class features EVERYTHING
This is going to be an interesting class to say the least. I was sold on the solid guards I had seen for years doing their things, Faith Cook and Angela Harris have been mentioned constantly by me over the years, why, because I've seen them play over and over and over and although some people may not understand how exposure and other things work, always remember to put your kids, players or self in the right situation to be seen by the right person and down here in these parts, that would be me contrary to anything else you might read on message boards about best, prestigious or reputable, fact is fact.
Not only is there an abundance of next level guards throughout the state, there are players at every position who are about to do some impressive things in a few months from this class, including some posts who you better not turn your back on, which will let me set the stage for tomorrows "BIG" headline on GPR
Back in 2009, Texas had the top two players in country and both happened to come from Houston. Before everything is all said and done, the top players in the 2016 class could also be from Texas and of course I've given the story away through the picture and other subtle hints but I think you'll find the story interesting
Branch-Big girl, big game
I remember the first time I saw Jae Branch and her mom in what seems to be an eternity ago however it probably was only four years. Jae's older sister was playing for the Hoops and she caught my eye as being the youngest member on the team but showed no fear once she stepped on the floor. She's still playing up and showing no fear, we knew that wasn't going to change and her game has caught up and some, we also knew that would happen, well at least did and I have no idea why I'm saying we. Jae is about to enter her freshman season in high school and she leads a very talented class of 2016 players that have a chance to mirror what the 2012 group did. More to come on 2016 bigs!
