Kendall Shaw Stands Tall

I guess the title is an understatement since Kendall Shaw is 6'3 however as she escaped the stigmas of what she couldn't do, she has landed at a very successful program in the SEC. After being the focal point behind the success of Barbers Hill, Shaw has committed to Vanderbilt where she hopes to help do the same. Blessed with size and strength, not to mention basketball runs through her veins as dad was a standout at Rice, Kendall has become more than just a banger under the basket and a force to be reckoned with.

Diaz Sisters Stay Together

After a stellar freshman season at Tomball High School, Caitlyn Diaz reinvented herself, hit the weights and toned up to the point that I didn't even recognize. That hard work enabled her to become more versatile in her sophomore year as she and Taylor Frank combined for more than 30 ppg and after witnessing her drop over 30 against Dekaney, there was no doubt she had arrived. All of this hard work over the years paid off as she has committed to Louisiana Lafayette

As an added bonus, the Ragin Cajuns also accepted a verbal from younger sister Carissa who is one of GPR's Rising Stars from the Class of 2014. You all have one more year to catch this sister act before they take their show on the road.

Ganon Baker Camp- Godfrey Ready To Lead Crosby's Charge

Alea Godfrey has emerged as a legitimate threat on both ends of the court. Always known for her athleticism, the skills have caught up and if last years stats from Crosby High School, along with a strong summer showing is any indication, this young lady is on course to put up big numbers.

Standing close to 6'0, Godfrey is already blessed with a college frame and after averaging close to 20 ppg and over 8 rpg, she is ready to help lead Crosby to the playoffs. This is another young lady that continues to work on her game every chance she gets and that has help establish her as one of GPR's Top 2013 players in the area.

Ganon Baker Camp- 2015 RFPT

I already put out a GPR 2015 Watch List however these two young ladies are already highly regarded a\nd should be impact players right off the top. Lashann Higgs handles the ball like a yo-yo and her razzle dazzle moves earned her a spot on Nike National Champion DFW T Jack over the summer. Higgs came here from the Bahamas with a lot of pub however when I hear about talent and a kid being this or that, my response is usually I'll be the judge of that. With that being said, case closed!

Jordan Hosey is in a very unique position as she enter high school. After playing with the #1 player in the Class of 2014 a couple of seasons in club ball, she will now play with her at Manvel High where they will finish what Jade Castille almost got done last season and that's a trip to Austin. Hosey is a young lady that will finish high in her class, blessed with size, skills and athleticism, she can post you up, take you off the dribble or nail the mid-range jumper. Both kids have Top 100 written all over them!

ATTENTION-DO NOT LET INNOCENT FACES FOOL YOU-PROCEED WITH CAUTION!!!!!

When you do your on thing you can get away with mixing stuff up however like I always tell the kids, have some fun in the process. Nicole Iademarco was one of the best young shooters I had seen in a long time a few years ago. As she entered high school at The Woodlands, she played primarily on JV so she could get the reps. The injury bug hit her but after talking with Nicole, she'll be ready for action as The Woodlands have  a good chance at making a run to state

Sydney Coleman name certainly stands out and after watching her play in the 7th grade, I considered her the best young athlete in the area. Last year at Cy Ranch, she played on JV due to transfer rules but the void left from Kiki Devane's departure places Coleman in a role she is familiar with and that's teaming up with former club mate Cienna Rivera

Ganon Baker Camp- 2013 RFPT

Here I go again with the acronyms however as that old saying I hate goes "it is what it is". Several juniors that were contributors to their teams success now have to play a bigger role due to graduation. Maybe they have to play more minutes or score more points but either way, there more so on center stage than before. Amber "AJ" Harris has the luxury of playing with two capable scorers in AGH Brettney Branch and Taylor Longley, both are also from the Class of 2013 at Clear Creek. Harris was primarily used on defense last season and has progressed nicely over the years so with post Adrienne Phillips graduating, Harris will be on the hot seat.

Like Harris, Carol Willie will be called upon to be more offensive minded as Larissa Scott's graduation from Cy Falls equals more responsibility. Willie may have a little growth left in her but a 6'1, she has shown she's capable of stepping up to the plate as Cy Falls has some unfinished business from last season.

Ganon Baker Camp- Courtney Latham Silent Assassin

I remember hearing over and over "Have you seen this kid from New Mexico" that can do this and that so I headed over to a scrimmage that was going on featuring some of the top area squads. Latham handled the ball on a string and made several acrobatic shots that had the crowd going crazy, well me too however what I liked about her even more was that she had that "Timex" mentality because after she took licks, no matter how hard, she kept on ticking and refused to be taken out of her game. With so many players capable of scoring on Clear Springs high octane guard heavy squad, she may not always put up numbers but the kids is legit.

Ganon Baker Camp- 2014 Straight To The Point

The Class Of 2014 is unlike no other I have seen in the past because in a perfect situation there could possibly be three Top 100 point guards from Houston. Brooke McCarty and Cienna Rivera are on most already while Ebony Parker will be moving up on others real soon as they play catch-up. Nevertheless, this class offers three unique players that get the job done in different ways. McCarty had the ball placed in her hands and was expected to score off the top at Clear Springs. Rivera was used primarily as a distributor her freshman season at Cy Ranch while Parker wasn't the primary point on the floor last season for Klein Forest which helped her become a pretty good combo guard.

Ganon Baker Camp- 2012 UTR

I have a knack for using acronyms, primarily because my voice activated software doesn't work well with my voice and I hate to type so UTR is GPR talk for Under The Radar. There are several players capable of playing at the next level year after year that somehow fall through the cracks however sometimes things still fall into place. Taylor Overshon is a scoring machine at Eisenhower, can take you off the dribble, nail the mid-range and can knock down the long ball. She is also one of the kids creating buzz among the instructors with her athleticism.

Ashlyn Hargraves takes some of the coolest pictures and her picture perfect jumper was dropping left and right at Basketball On The Bayou and the Adidas Grand Finale. Hargraves is a long range bomber and when she's on, she's as good as anyone and had several games with 5 or more threes in those two tournaments

Diominisha Sophus scored at will against 4A competition finishing as one of the top scorers in the city at Wheatley. The thing about 4A competition in our area is it's not 5A, so sometimes, just sometimes everything isn't what it seems. That rule doesn't apply to Sophus as she can score against almost anyone. Lightning quick with a spectacular crossover, D can Deeeee you up!

Shernise Robertson was probably the best sixth man in the area last season as Cy Falls had a record setting season. A preseason AGH selection, Robertson brought athleticism and scoring off the bench and will play a key role again this season as they make another run for a state title.

Ganon Baker Camp- GPR 2015 Watch List

Year after year I see them come and others go and as I reflect on progression, regression, reaching maximum potential and other things that go through my head, it's always refreshing to see the new kids on the block ready to play under bright lights in the big city. Some will come in with more hoopla however that doesn't always mean you'll end up being as good as you were touted. The main thing is not to stop working because believe me someone else is

Tiffany Arceneaux pulled double duty at both camps and was very receptive from the instructions GB gave her. She will be heading to Dayton to play alongside one of last seasons Fab Frosh She'lia Scott

Jayla Calhoun is steadily improving from the last time I saw her which was around a month ago. Blessed with size, she has been working on her mid-range game and like Arceneaux, she pulled a double at both camps and plans on being a factor at Summer Creek

Khayla Mitchell was a GPR Rising Star last year and she hasn't disappointed me one bit. Her demeanor is changing as she matures and so is her deadly jumper which should be another weapon as she teams up with Lexie Fatheree at Foster

Adrriana Jackson doesn't let her height be a deterrent and she may be the heir apparent to TJ Jefferson's point guard position at North Shore. Here's a 3 S rule you can take to the bank. If you're short, you better have some speed and or smarts if you want to excel at this level, Jackson has both. That along with being able to create her shot is a big plus. This kid is a player, stamped, sealed and sent, another 3 S I thought of on the fly!

Speaking of flying, let me reintroduce you to Brynae Thompson who grew up quickly on the circuit in July. When she's on, no one strokes it better however decision making has steadily improved as well as understanding how to get hers in the flow while getting others involved.
