Area Top Tens Start Off Head To Head

With Jasmine Nash being cleared to play at Klein Collins, my area Top 10 changed a little but not much. I initially had Klein Collins at #11 however another scorer and ball handler to help take the pressure off of Veja Hamilton and Dominique Dillingham might be what the doctor ordered as District 13 just became a little tighter. Klein Collins opens up on the road against the team I thought would represent Region 3 in Austin last season, Cy Falls. The Eagles lost only two games, one to Elsik and a heart breaker against North Shore in the semifinals. They also lost two starters in Macy Moore and Larissa Scott but picked up Loryn Goodwyn, see the article "Replacing The Pieces" on a few teams with fresh faces ready to step up.

Elsik is the defending Region 3 champion and they travel to Bellaire which should be a an Elite 8 preview. Season before last, Bellaire overcame a 20 point lead in the third quarter against Elsik in the playoffs however last season they opened up with a (71-41) loss and he Rams avenged all by going to state.  Coach Lashawn Johnson made some very good points in the video regarding losing her role players from last season and keeping her team grounded and focused while not worrying about the rankings, TABC has them at #3 in the state. Seniors Jasmine Oconas, Crystal Porter and Akunna Elonu are her stars, they have never lost a district game and once again, they went to state which means they won when it counted. Bellaire is on a mission this season because this might be their last chance to make it to Austin, so AJ Alix, Bianca Winslow and Raven Burns want to get it done. These should be two very entertaining ball games.

Bellaire also joins Klein Collins and Cy Falls in the Texas Invitational, remember November 18th.
